Sometimes, the only appropriate way to spend a day off after a long week is doing nothing at all. At least, that’s how Jamie Reagan actor Will Estes approaches his weekend after filming for “Blue Bloods” all week.

Since 2010, Will Estes has been playing the youngest member of the Reagan brood. His character, Jamie, forewent a career in law to pursue the family business. Will Estes has been playing the character for more than a decade now, and when he’s not at work, you can find him relaxing with a book.

In a 2017 interview with Taylor Magazine, Estes talked about what he loves to do whenever he gets a day off of work.

“The only thing I like more than working is not working. I do absolutely nothing and it’s wonderful,” Estes said. “I always try and catch up on reading – I always wished that I was more well-read. Being in New York I always miss the ocean. I miss the Pacific so when I get the chance I paddle out and do some surfing sometimes because I grew up in Los Angeles.”

So the “Blue Bloods” star likes to do nothing in the figurative sense. And we can’t blame him. Catching up on some reading or getting out on the water? Sounds like our type of guy.

The ‘Blue Bloods’ Star Caught Some Flack from His Friends in Law Enforcement

Fans of “Blue Bloods” know that Will Estes’ Jamie Reagan was a beat cop for most of his time on the show. The lack of career advancement fit his character, as he enjoyed doing the work. But apparently, Will Estes has a few police officer friends who found his failure to be promoted comical.

Jamie Reagan finally pursued becoming a sergeant at the behest of Tom Selleck’s Frank Reagan. And for Estes, it couldn’t have come a moment sooner.

“I was getting tired of my police officer friends asking when I was going to get promoted,” Estes told CBS Boston in 2018.

Now, Jamie Reagan outranks his older brother Danny, played by Donnie Wahlberg. The choice that “Blue Bloods” made to have the brothers represent different sides of law enforcement has proven strong. It gives fans some extra perspective on what it’s like to be a beat cop compared to a detective.

Will Estes Couldn’t Be Happier with His Co-Stars

There’s a reason “Blue Bloods” has lasted more than a decade. In addition to a great premise, writing, and production, the CBS show hit the mark when it came to casting, as well.

Will Estes, while appreciative of the entire cast, had some kind words for Henry Reagan actor Len Cariou.

“I’m surrounded by a lot of talent. Len Cariou to my right is such a great actor and film actor,” he told Taylor Magazine in the same interview.
