“Hi. It’s Bob. Thank you,” the beloved actor begins on his official Twitter Friday. “To my family and friends who have surrounded me this week. And for the outpouring of love from everyone who expressed concern and care for me. It’s overwhelming. But I feel the love and it means so much,” the Better Call Saul star writes.
Earlier today, Bob Odenkirk’s oft-creative partner and friend, David Cross, updated fans. Cross promised that the world would hear from Bob soon after his on-set collapse Tuesday night. Now, Odenkirk himself is doing just that.
“I had a small heart attack,” the actor reveals. “But I’m going to be ok thanks to Rosa Estrada and the doctors who knew how to fix the blockage without surgery.”
Odenkirk also adds that “AMC and Sony’s support and help throughout this has been next-level.”
“I’m going to take a beat to recover,” he says, “but I’ll be back soon.”
Awful news on the “small heart attack” – but Outsider is thankful it wasn’t worse. Having Bob Odenkirk back and on the road to recovery feels quite good.
David Cross agrees. His post earlier Friday promised Mr. Show and Better Call Saul fans that his pal Bob would be on the mend:
“Just got off the phone with Bob and he’s doing great!,” Cross tells followers on Twitter about Odenkirk. “Joking and japing and joshing. Both he and his family are overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and concern everyone has shown. You will be hearing from him soon. But he’s doing really well!!!” Bob’s collaborator and friend continued.
Bob Odenkirk’s On-Set Heart Attack Shakes Hollywood
Tuesday night, trades would report Odenkirk’s collapse on the Better Call Saul set in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In the time since, Deadline would report his collapse as a “heart related incident” – but that’s all we knew until Bob himself spoke out Friday.
At the time, Emmy-winner and Breaking Bad fan-favorite Odenkirk “fell to the ground and was rushed to the hospital,” the trade cites. His collapse came amidst ongoing production on Season 6 of Better Call Saul. It is also to be the final season and a sendoff for Bob Odenkirk’s beloved character, which originated on Breaking Bad alongside Bryan Cranston.
Cranston would also speak out on behalf of his friend after his collapse.
“Today I woke up to news that has made me anxious all morning,” Cranston said via his official Instagram. “My friend, Bob Odenkirk collapsed last night on the set of Better Call Saul. He is in the hospital in Albuquerque and receiving the medical attention he needs but his condition is not known to the public as yet. Please take a moment in your day today to think about him and send positive thoughts and prayers his way, thank you.”
A speedy recovery to you, Sir Bob!
