Popular country music artist Brad Paisley is looking to reach all new audiences with his chart-topping hits. His new listeners are chomping at the bit to hear Paisley perform live.
That may just be because Brad Paisley is performing for sharks during Discovery Channel’s highly anticipated and popular Shark Week programming.
Paisley is helping to answer a centuries-long question — do sharks even like country music?
Brad Paisley Shark Week
According to Deadline, the name of the program is “Brad Paisley’s Shark Country.” Paisley filmed the episode alongside comedian JB Smoove. He is most known for his roles in “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “The Millers.”
The two set off to the beautiful white beaches and shark-infested waters in the Bahamas. The goal is really to investigate whether the sound of country music will attract or repel sharks. In an epic promotional shot, Paisley is playing the acoustic guitar while underwater.
“Me and Brad Paisley attempt to see if sharks have a taste for country or comedy… so don’t miss what happens,” Smoove said in a statement, according to CMT.
You can see if Paisley’s music is good shark bait on Tuesday, July 13 at 9 p.m. ET. It is taking place in the midst of Shark Week programs, which will start July 11 through July 18.
Smoove already seems to have the advantage for the upcoming program. He gave a shoutout to sharks while visiting on “Conan.”
“Right now I wanna give a big shoutout to my people out there. You know who you are: the reef shark, the tiger shark, the sand shark. Much appreciation goes out to you,” Smoove said. Brad Paisley better step up his shark game.
Shark Week, or the “best thing about summer” as the Discovery Channel calls it, is bringing in a lot of celebrity star power this year. Tiffany Haddish (comedian), Robert Irwin (son of wildlife extraordinaire Steve Irwin), Noah Schnapp (“Stranger Things”), David Dobrik (popular YouTuber), and William Shatner (“Star Trek” franchise) are all making appearances that week.
