Bradley Cooper has sported a number of roles within the past few decades. However, a few years ago, he unexpectedly took a terrifying one: someone held at knifepoint while going to pick up his daughter.
Speaking on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, Bradley Cooper disclosed being held at knifepoint in October 2019. What makes the situation even worse is the fact he was picking up his now 4-year-old daughter, Lea. “I used to walk around New York City all the time with [headphones[ on — this was pre-pandemic,” Cooper began. “I was on the subway, 11:45, to pick Lea up downtown at Russian school and I got held up at knifepoint.”
Calling the experience “pretty insane,” Cooper admitted he became too comfortable in the city. He went on to say he tried being “incognito” while out and about. Wearing sunglasses and a hat, as well as having headphones in his ears, he “felt somebody coming up” to the end of the subway car where he normally stood. He thought the person wanted a photo but was quite wrong.
“I’m up against the post like it’s The French Connection or some s—, and then I, like, turned. I looked down and I see a knife,” he continued, saying it looked like the knife was around 2 and a half inches long. I remember thinking, ‘oh, it’s a nice knife.'”
While initially surprised by how young the suspect was, Cooper began running out of nowhere. Jumping over the turnstile, he hid around the entrance, took out his phone, and then took a photo of the suspect. Cooper then began chasing the suspect, eventually losing him. He did find two police officers though and relayed the information he acquired to them.
Sam Elliott Said He Always ‘Suspected What Type of Guy’ Bradley Cooper is
We know Bradley Cooper is a talented actor, a devoted family man, and apparently able to stand up to knife-wielding assailants. Starring with him in A Star is Born, Sam Elliott said he knew right away “what type of guy” Cooper was.
BlackGirlNerds.com recently had the chance to speak to Sam Elliott about his role in the movie. Playing Bradley Cooper’s brother in the movie, he had nothing but praise to say about his costar. According to him, he immediately knew Cooper was “the real deal,” and that’s what compelled him to star in the movie.
“I didn’t know him before this started really,” Elliott began. “But I suspected what type of guy he was. After my first encounter with him, I thought, “this guy was, he was the real deal!” He’s honest and he’s on this search for truth. He’s committed to it, just trying to tell the truth,” Elliott said. “There’s a certain amount of the truth (in the movie), because it’s the nature of the beast.”
