‘The Brady Bunch’: One Actor Said They ‘Couldn’t Imagine’ Christopher Knight’s Success as a Businessman

This actor never would have guessed that his onscreen big brother would accomplish so much after The Brady Bunch.

When you’re a kid, it can be difficult to imagine what you and your siblings will grow up to accomplish. It seems that the same goes for onscreen siblings. Although he only had two siblings in real life, Mike Lookinland, who played Bobby on the show, grew up with five onscreen brothers and sisters. During an interview, Mike shared his thoughts about how his castmates moved on after The Brady Bunch.

“I don’t know, I wouldn’t imagine that Susan Olsen would be a mother, be raising a son. Chris hit it big in computer software, and I couldn’t imagine he’d be that big a businessman,” said Lookinland. “I hit one button on a computer and it crashes. I admire him for that. And Barry has made a great career just continuing with the Greg Brady and Johnny Bravo theme.”

Despite living the Hollywood life for most of his childhood years, Lookinland said that his parents strived to keep life as normal as possible for him and his siblings.

“My family all had as normal a life as we could. We were all registered in public schools,” said Lookinland. “Up until high school, I went through the Los Angeles public school district, in grade school and junior high.”

Mike’s Son Portrayed Him in The Brady Bunch TV Movie, Growing Up Brady

The 2000 made-for-tv biographical film, Growing Up Brady, was based on the 1992 autobiography Growing Up Brady: I Was a Teenage Greg. Barry Williams who played Greg on the show wrote the book with Chris Kreski. The movie depicted behind-the-scenes events that occurred while Barry and the rest of The Brady Bunch cast filmed the show. Actor Adam Brody played a young Barry Williams, while actress Kaley Cuoco played Maureen McCormick (Marcia). Mike Lookinland was played by his own son, Scott. During the same interview, Mike shared the advice that he gave his son while he filmed.

“I probably just told him to be yourself and do what the director tells you. Because I’m not the director, he is. Just do what the director tells you and everything will be fine,” said Lookinland.

Mike has been happily married to his wife Kelly for the past 25 years. The two have two sons, Scott who played Mike in Growing Up Brady, and Joe. After years of living life in the spotlight, Mike said that spending time with his family is now the best part of his life.

“My wife and I are going on 25 years of marriage and I definitely married the right person,” said Lookinland. “It’s family, and my relationship with her.”
