Will Lori Loughlin return to When Calls the Heart for the show’s seventh season following a two-month prison sentence?
After the college admissions scandal involving Lori Loughlin, season six of When Calls the Heart was pulled off the air, and episodes were left unreleased. Some fans even worried that the series would end altogether.
However, as of May 2019, those fans would take a breath of relief once again as the show returned.
In the show, Lori Loughlin plays the character, Abigail. When Calls The Heart accounted for Loughlin’s time in court with a change in the storyline that sent Abigail’s character away.
According to Parade, “In the opening scene, Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) is writing in her journal about Abigail. It turns out Abigail’s mother had fallen ill, and Abigail rushed out of town with Cody to take care of her ailing mother.”
Not only did Loughlin lose her job, but Carter Ryan Evancic, the actor who played Abigail’s adopted son, Cody, did as well. The firing of 14-year-old Evancic did not sit well with fans of the show, who call themselves “Hearties.”
Since Lori Loughlin’s character left and wasn’t killed, it leaves a question mark as to if she will return or not to the show.
Lori Loughlin Pleaded Guilty
In May of 2020, Loughlin pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud. Her husband, fashion designer, Mossimo Giannulli, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud and honest services wire and mail fraud.
After serving a two-month sentence, Lori Loughlin was released in December. She also had to pay a $150,000 fine.
However, Giannulli is still serving his sentence and will not be a free man until April of this year. He was also fined $250,000. Upon their release, both will be under supervision. In addition, they are required to participate in 100 to 150 hours of community service.
The couple were two of over 50 people charged in relation to the scandal.
It is doubtful that Lori Loughlin will return to the show for season eight. It begins airing on TV today (Feb. 21), and filming had wrapped up while Loughlin was still in prison. She completely missed season seven of the show.
In addition, it is unknown if Crown Media and Hallmark Channel will take her back either.
