Candace Cameron Bure spoke out about her beliefs regarding vaccines and freedom.
The Full House alum sparked a controversial debate among social media users regarding mandated vaccinations. On Thursday she shared an Instagram post regarding her stance on vaccinations.
The controversial and somewhat political topic has been heavy on social media during the pandemic. However, the debate has sometimes gotten out of control. The fan response to her latest post was a mix of positive and negative reactions.
“This is not about what I am against,” she captioned the post. “This is what I am FOR. Read and understand the distinction. This mama is holding the line and standing up for freedom.”
She later added that beliefs “should not separate us.” Bure explained that people can have different opinions while still able to respect and love one another.
The post itself included graphics that began with “I’m not anti-v [vaccination].” The following graphics stated that she is “pro-medical freedom,” “pro-informed consent,” “pro-immune system,” “pro-early intervention” and “pro-sunlight, exercise, real food, & vitamins.”
Some people took this to mean that she is against vaccinations in light of the following graphics. At the same time, others praised her for being so honest with social media despite the backlash that would ensue.
Some of her famous friends have come to her defense offering comments and support. This includes her Full House television father Bob Saget along with former Hallmark co-stars, Lacey Chabert, Danica McKellar, Katharine McPhee, and Alexa PenaVega. None of her friends disclosed their own beliefs or vaccine statuses and just wanted the conversation among the replies to be a positive one.
Candace Cameron Bure’s Previous Statements
Furthermore, according to Page Six, back in September, Candace Cameron Bure addressed vaccinations via Instagram. In a since-deleted Instagram Story she spoke about the COVID vaccine but declined to reveal her own status. This prompted fans to believe that she was anti-vaccination at the time.
“I can no longer stay silent on vaccine mandates,” she wrote at the time. “Although I will not disclose my vaccination status to you, I am absolutely opposed to vaccine MANDATES, anywhere. We must speak up.”
Finally, back in 2015, Candace Cameron Bure also spoke about vaccinations six years ago in a Facebook post. She praised her children’s schooling that she respected her children’s schools for giving them a choice over vaccines.
“Although my children are vaccinated, I’m glad I had the choice when it comes to school. I have many family and friends who choose not to vaccinate for different reasons,” she wrote. “Some of them already homeschool and my guess is that [a] whole lot more in California are going to. SHOUTOUT to HOMESCHOOL PARENTS and CO-OPS.”
