Chevy and Jayni Chase Looking for Donations to Non-Profit

He sat down with his wife on her birthday to share a message close to heart.

“Hi, it’s my wife @jaynichase ‘s Birthday and I would love help from my friends and family to raise funds to support one of her favorite enviro orgs on the planet, @friends_earth ! I’m so excited to help the work they do I’m going to match the first $2000 given by all of you. So, please make her BDay Wish come true – reach into your virtual wallet and donate whatever you can,” Chase wrote on Instagram.

“You know what, birthday is just a take-off of Earth Day,” the former “Saturday Night Live” cast member also joked during the couple’s video in front of the camera.

The charity that Jayni Chase is seeking donations to is called Friends of the Earth. It is a non-profit environmental organization.

Friend of the Earth’s official website describes themselves as, “Together we speak truth to power and expose those who endanger the health of people and the planet for corporate profit. We organize to build long-term political power and campaign to change the rules of our economic and political systems that create injustice and destroy nature.” The non-profit looks to push for reforms that are needed to save the Earth.

Friend of the Earth has done a lot of good so far. You can view some of the organization’s impact here, which includes helping to end the Keystone XL Pipeline, tackling air pollution, and protecting the Arctic from drilling.

Chevy and Jayne Continued Activism

According to The Post and Courier in 2018, Jayni Chase is a conservation educator. She founded the Center of Environmental Education in order to provide materials for teachers and students. She’s also the author of “Blueprint for a Green School,” which has 7,5000 conservation information sources. Since then, she continues to hold leadership roles in different green organizations.

She received the Hugh C. Lane Jr. Award of Excellence in Environmental Education.

Chevy Chase and Jayni also once teamed up to write an editorial for World Oceans Day for CNN.

“We’re not scientists, but we know something we can do: encourage you to talk and think about the ocean, with hope that you will be more involved in the things that will make a difference,” the two wrote in 2010.

The piece came after the Mission Blue Voyage. This is a boat trip that was inspired by Sylvia Earle’s 2009 TED Prize wish.

The iconic couple went on a trip to the Galápagos with 100 ocean scientists as well as several other guests. In the process, everyone learned about the problem with our oceans and what can be done.
