‘Chicago Fire’ Star Taylor Kinney Explains How ‘Captain Insurance’ Won’t Let Him Do Some Stunts

His hit series Chicago Fire has a lot of intense moments, but it seems as though Taylor Kinney does not get to experience most of the high-action events while on the set.

During a 2018 interview with Talking to Tami, the Chicago Fire star said that due to “Captain Insurance” he isn’t able to do as much of the stunts that he wants to do.

“I like doing [stunts], but I will do as much as NBC lets me. Until “Captain Insurance” won’t let me.”

The Chicago Fire castmate also said that one editor thought one of the stunts he performed was green-screened or on stage. “But no I was really out there and it was a great shot of the city. It has a great movie feel to it.”

When asked if he was actually afraid of heights, Kinney stated, “No I am not. I used to work in roofing before becoming an actor, so it didn’t bother me. I always enjoy it.”

Taylor Kinney Talks About the Evolution of His & Jesse Spencer’s ‘Chicago Fire’ Characters

During a February 2021 interview, Taylor Kinney spoke about the evolution of his and Jesse Spencer’s Chicago Fire characters. “I think a lot of it  [is] maturity,” Kinney explained. “You put the nonsense aside and be like, ‘We’re better if have each other’s backs than if we keep this competition going.’”

Kinney further explained that the Chicago Fire characters are not the best at talking about their feelings. “They’re not very long-winded verbally. But the gesture is always there. It could e as simple as, ‘Hey Casey, if you don’t have a place to stay, you can stay with me.’”

The Chicago Fire star also stated that viewers can see the two characters evolve and become more mature in their relationship as co-workers and friends.

“They’re like brothers. If they disagree with each other, yeah they’ll punch each other in the head here and there.”

While also talking about the Chicago Fire characters, Kinney says his and Spencer’s duo are able to still has things out and get a read on each other. Spencer commented, “They’ve settled into themselves and they make a really good team. They have each other as a solid relationship. And Taylor’s great to work with.”

Spencer further chimed in by saying the characters can lean on each other and have conversations about each other’s girl problems.

“They don’t get super-deep about it. But they can be like, ‘What’s going on with you, bro?’ ‘I dunno bro, what’s up with you?’”

Unfortunately for Kinney, Spencer’s Chicago Fire character has recently departed from the series. Spencer announced his exit during the 200th episode of the hit series.
