New ‘Chicago Med’ and ‘Fire’ Seasons Will Be Premiering in September

Get ready for the return of Chicago Med and Chicago Fire.

The #OneChicago lineup will return this September. Beginning on Wednesday, September 22, the typically scheduled block of Chicago-based series will premiere. At 8 PM, Chicago Med will kick things off followed by Chicago Fire at 9 PM. Finally, rounding out the shows will be Chicago P.D. at 10 PM.

This will mark the tenth season of Chicago Fire, the ninth season of Chicago P.D., and the seventh season of Chicago Med.

Showrunner Derek Haas teased details about the upcoming seasons to TV Line.

“Hopefully, the second episode, like we’ve done in the past, will be a major crossover,” he revealed. “We’ve already started talking about ideas for it and to do one in the vein of ‘Infection,’ where it was three big episodes with all three shows represented in all three hours. That would be ideal. Hopefully, the pandemic will be closer to being under control by then, and we’ll have more people back and we can cross people over a bit more easily.”

The fifth episode of Season 10 of Chicago Fire will mark the show’s 200th episode. They plan to build out the season for the coveted episode and make it special.

‘Chicago Med’ Loses Two Stars

The series still has two seasons left on its three-year order, but sadly, two stars will be departing the show.

Torrey DeVitto and Yaya DaCosta left the show after Season 6. DeVitto portrayed emergency pediatrics specialist Natalie Manning while DaCosta played emergency room nurse April Sexton. Both of their contracts expired and both of the former Chicago Med stars have new projects.

DaCosta will be starring in the new fox series, Our Kind of People. The new series is inspired by the book, “Our Kind of People: Inside America’s Black Upper Class” by Lawrence Otis Graham. DaCosta will portray the role of Angela Vaughn. Her character is a haircare line owner and single mother. She is attempting to get her family’s name back despite uncovering a dark family secret.

DeVitto signed on for an indie film, Skelly. She will portray the mother of an 11-year-old boy named Jonah. His grandfather passes and his father experienced unimaginable grief. This leads the young boy to become obsessed with morality and create a haunted house.

‘Chicago Fire’ Big Promotion

Chicago Fire reportedly promoted Hanako Greensmith to a series regular. She portrays Violet Mikami, the ex-girlfriend of Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende). She has previously appeared in Seasons 8 and 9.

Hanako recently shared an update on her Instagram concerning her return to the set of the show while wearing a Chicago Fire shirt.

“Idk how to be cute about this so here’s a series of me being excited in the trailer yesterday,” she wrote. “Thank you so much for watching and for all the love this last week. It was very surreal to take on as much as I got to take on, and I’m so friggin grateful for it.”
