Just a little over five years after departing from NBC’s Chicago PD, Sophia Bush has reportedly landed a role on a new medical series called Good Sam.

According to CBS, Good Sam follows Dr. Samantha Griffith as she learned the ropes as the new top surgeon at Lakeshore Sentinel Hospital. She received the role after the “leader” of the hospital, who happens to be her father, fell into a coma. “But complications have set in: Having recovered, the elder doc wants to resume his duties. Sam can only relent, right? The result is a clash of family wills between old guard and new methods in a life-and-death business.”

Excited about her new role, the former Chicago PD star took to her Instagram to share a sneak peek of Good Sam. “It’s all happening!”

Good Sam is currently set to premiere on January 5, 2022. Starring alongside Bush in the new series is Jason Isaacs, Michael Stahl-David, Edwin Hodge, and Davi Santos.

Why Did Sophia Bush Leave ‘Chicago PD’?

During an appearance on Dax Shepard’s podcast Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard, Sophia Bush shared details about her exit from Chicago PD. “There was a lot of people there who I knew and loved. But it was not ok,” Bush explained while talking about some of the working conditions on the hit series set.

“When your bosses tell you that if you raise a ruckus, you’ll cost everyone their job. You believe that,” the former Chicago PD star continued. “It was also convoluted with the fact that there were great aspects of it.”

The Chicago PD alum then shared that she did get to stunt drive. She also did ride alongs as well as training. She called those experiences on the set very fulfilling, but she admitted it was time for her to focus on what was really important to her. “I sat my two bosses down. It was after the table read for the first episode of season four. And they already knew what was going. But, I [said it was] not ok.”

Bush went on to claim that she began telling her bosses what’s happening on the set, only to be met with pushback. “I was literally told to stop by my boss, ‘cause this is all s— I have to call HR about and I really don’t want to deal with this anymore.”

Bush goes on to say that the conversation proved she knew she made the right decision to depart from the series. Following her departure from Chicago PD, Bush made an appearance on Love, Victor, Jane the Virgin, and This is Us. She was also in False Positive, Hard Luck Love Song, The Incredibles 2, and Acts of Violence.
