Chicago PD is gearing up for Season 9.

The Season 9 premiere will take place on September 22 on NBC. The series will return in its usual Wednesday night slot at 10 PM ET. The show has been picked up through at least season ten. The “Chicago” nights alongside Chicago Med and Chicago Fire will resume.

Unlike previous seasons, this season is rumored to pick up right where the last season left off.

Jason Beghe as Hank Voight, Jesse Lee Soffer as Jay Halstead, and Patrick John Flueger as Adam Ruzek have been confirmed to return. Additionally, Marina Squerciati as Kim Burgess LaRoyce Hawkins as Kevin Atwater, and Amy Morton as Trudy Platt are set to come back. Finally, Tracy Spiridakos as Hailey Upton will also return.

Meanwhile, Nicole Ari Parker will return as recurring character, Samantha Miller. You’ll recall that her character’s son passed away.

“I think she’s going to figure out what she wants to do and how,” ShowrunnerRick Eid told Monsters and Critics. “What happened to her son connects to this idea of policing and reform, but she’s not going to blame reform for her son’s death. I don’t think that it’s that simple. I think she ultimately believes that she did the right thing and just didn’t get the right result with her son. It’s a complicated issue. It’s not one plus one equals two here. I think that she did the right thing. It’s just interesting to put somebody who’s a proponent of reform in the face of reform, someone who’s a believer in reform, and put them in a really difficult situation to see if they walk the walk when it really matters. And I liked the fact that she did.”

‘Chicago PD’ Season 8 Lookback

Season 8 of Chicago PD focused on the intelligence division skewing legalities and police reform. Kim Burgess was kidnapped and the team had different ideas and plans on how to rescue her. Officer Adam Ruzak believed that they should go above and beyond in ways that may not be legal. Meanwhile, Detective Jay Halstead and Officer Kevin Atwater believed to do everything by the book. Detective Hailey Upton wanted to do something in between each of the measures.

Surprisingly, Sgt. Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) decided to break protocol in the season 8 finale. There are numerous spins that could take place after his major decision. Will Upton decide to fess up to Roy’s shooting?

Will we discover Halsted’s answer to Tracy about getting married? Finally, be sure to set your DVRs to get all of your burning questions answered.
