Clint Eastwood has a secret code that keeps him staying healthy.

At 91 years young, the Hollywood legend is still working on sets. He revealed to Closer per Express, the trick to his health. He believes people need to “lay back and enjoy” growing older. But also have a healthy diet, time outside, and keep your mind sharp.

“I have a friend that is in his 90s, and I said to him, ‘You look real good – what’s the deal?’ Eastwood recalled. “He says, ‘Never let the old man in.’ And he never did.'”

In real life, Clint Eastwood became focused on his health after the death of his father. His dad had a fatal heart attack and ever since, his main priority is his health. His passing “hit [him] like a ton of bricks.” Eastwood did not want to repeat his father’s poor lifestyle choices like smoking and a bad diet.

“Clint still golfs…. he likes to take long walks,” a source told the outlet. “He looks forward to a good meal, reading, getting scripts, golf. He’s very comfortable with his daily routine.”

Over the years, Eastwood kept a strict schedule of rigorous workouts until he was older where his body couldn’t keep up. This helped him keep his body fat down.

“I’ve never carried much body fat, but I’ve always been pretty good about watching my diet,” Eastwood said back in 1991. His doctor noted that he takes antioxidants faithfully, “works out like a demon, and gets plenty of sleep.” Dr. Harry Demopoulos noted that most people forget about how crucial sleep is.

What is Clint Eastwood’s Code?

Clint Eastwood‘s son, Scott Eastwood, revealed that his father lives by a code. In an interview with Men’s Health, Scott explained what it does.

“Yeah, it’s actually a thing,” he revealed before adding what it entails. “Whatever you’re doing, you actually try to do your best at it every time. Just do it and then move on. You don’t ever backstab people or f–k someone over — you don’t have integrity if you do that. You show up on time for stuff. And you don’t b—h and complain about what you’re doing.”

Clint Eastwood made his son earn everything that he has. He also encouraged him to live a healthy lifestyle from eating habits to physical exercise.

My dad is a machine about food and exercise. He showed me how to lift when I was 14 or 15 — the bench press and other basics. He made it clear it was more important to do the moves correctly than to put on more plates,” he shared.

Scott explained that his life is a 90/10 balance thanks to his father. 90 percent is healthy eating while 10 percent is exercise. Whatever this father-son duo is doing seems to be working!
