Clint and Ron Howard have led remarkable lives as entertainers. The latter’s success as a child star on “The Andy Griffith Show” set the stage for Hollywood relevance spanning more than 60 years. The “Happy Days” icon and his movie star brother Clint recently published a joint memoir documenting their experiences, and the pair have been pleasantly surprised by how many people have taken an interest.
Considering their track records, though, it’s not all that surprising that the book is doing strong numbers. Ron is the man behind Opie and Richie Cunningham, after all. Add to that an entire directorial career chock-full of beloved movies, and people are going to pay attention. Throw Clint’s 250-plus acting credit resume into the mix, and you have a recipe for a readable memoir.
“The Boys: A Memoir of Hollywood and Family” was only published on October 12, but it has already found a massive audience. Ron Howard shared a tweet to that effect, thanking fans for all of the support.
“You and Clint are legends making your mark in this crazy world with hard work with love and joy. And it’s really cool two brothers writing a book together. Especially since their name is Howard. Thank you both. Looking forward to the adventure,” one fan replied to Ron Howard’s tweet.
The Man on the Cover of the ‘The Boys: A Memoir of Hollywood and Family’
Without Rance Howard, Ron and Clint’s dad, their entertainment careers may have never gotten off the ground in the first place.
He undoubtedly plays a significant role in the experiences recounted by Clint and Ron in their memoir. He is on the cover of the book, after all. And at least one fan recognized his contributions on Twitter.
Years ago I heard your dad say something in an interview which really stuck with me. He said something like, “Your job is to be prepared for tomorrow.”— Gannon Beck (@GannonB) October 21, 2021
What a wonderful example he was. Thank you for sharing your family’s story.
Ron Howard and Family Have Become Hollywood Royalty
Ron and Clint’s Hollywood journey began when their dad, Rance, pursued his own career in the industry. His fate wasn’t the same stardom he afforded his boys, but he successfully navigated his way to “The Andy Griffith Show.” There, his sons began legendary careers. However, their success afforded Rance some extra opportunities, and he turned out to be a talented actor in his own right.
The combined experience of the Howard family is enough to put most in Hollywood to shame. Even the younger generation has found success, with Bryce Dallas Howard becoming an A-list movie star in recent years.
