A rare Colin Kaepernick rookie football card just sold for more than $20,000 at auction, and at least $5,000 is being donated to the former quarterback’s charity.

The special card is a 2011 Topps Platinum Rookie Patch Autograph Red Refractor card. In fact, the card even features an authentic patch from Kaepernick’s rookie season jersey along with his autograph.

The one of a kind football card was put up on the auction block at Goldin Auctions, and ended up selling for $20,400 to the highest bidder.

The rookie card was originally part of a regular pack of cards. The anonymous seller bought the rare card for less than $1,800 on eBay. Then they consigned the card to Goldin Auctions.

The seller is not keeping all of the money from their big payday. In fact, the seller chose to donate a portion of the profits to Kaepernick’s charity – Know Your Rights Camp. The charity will receive at least $5,000 from the auction.

Furthermore, the Kaepernick memorabilia extends past just the football card. The anonymous seller is also selling a pair of game-worn, autographed Kaepernick gloves. Likewise, the KYRC charity will get another donation from the sell.

Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick may not be signed to an NFL team, but that did not stop his recently released Nike jersey to sell out almost immediately.

Nike created a special limited edition CK7 jersey that went on sell on its website Sept. 17. The limited jersey sold out within seconds. The jersey is called The Icon 2.0 and is meant to commemorate the four year anniversary of Kaepernick’s kneeling protests during the pregame national anthem.

Kaepernick has been busy recently, even without playing in NFL games these days. His Nike merchandise is in high demand, and he was recently added back into the Madden 2021 football video game. In addition, his character was ranked as the top free-agent quarterback in the game.
