Seven years after her departure as Sara Sidle on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Jorja Fox opens up about her reuniting with her well-known role on CSI: Vegas.

During a recent interview with TV Insider, Fox spoke about her and William Petersen (who plays Gil) returning to the CSI franchise. “We were really rusty. It was really easy to sit back and make fun of the new kids and watch them struggle through learning how to do all this science and talk at the same time.

Fox also admitted it was fun getting to “play” rusty on the CSI set, where she and Petersen didn’t know new techniques. “But then you’re going to see a little later that we’re actually going to get in there ourselves. And so we stopped laughing pretty quickly when all of a sudden we were the ones.”

The CSI star then revealed that she and Petersen have done some stuff over the years, but there’s a lot of new techniques and toys and gadgets that have come out in the past five years. “It was a real learning process for William and myself as well. And I enjoyed watching him struggling through it too. We’re like, ‘what’s this thing?’ ‘How do you do it?’ Suddenly, we had to practice and practice too.”

CSI: Vegas premiered on October 6, 2021. According to IMDb, the show follows a team of forensic investigators who welcome back old friends and deploy new techniques to preserve and serve justice in Las Vegas (AKA Sin City). Fox returned as Sara Sidle and Petersen as Gil Grissom. Those who are starring alongside the duo are Paula Newsome, Matt Lauria, Mandeep Dhillion, and Mel Rodriguez.

Jorja Fox Speaks Out About the Relationship Between the ‘CSI’ Characters Sara & Gil

While continuing to chat with TV Insider, Jorja Fox revealed her true thoughts about the relationship between CSI characters Sara and Gil. “For Petersen and I, that is the really, really new piece of the puzzle. So much of what happened over those 15 years played offscreen and it was risky, too.”

Fox then stated that there was even a time, back in the day, where the fans were split about whether they even wanted Sara and Gil to be together. “You had people who were very much against [the relationship]. Very much for it. That’s always a good thing. If your audience is passionate one way or the other. It’s always when they are for you.”

Fox goes on to add that she’s a romantic and she believes in love. “Sara and Gil have been through so much. They’ve been on again, off again, married, divorced, back together. I’ve never had an opportunity to play a long-term relationship like this.”
