He’s a man of very few words– one that prefers his martini shaken not stirred. He rocks a sharp suit as he calmly walks away from exploding buildings and cars on fire. The illustrious 007 is, of course, Mr. James Bond. Daniel Craig has brought the James Bond character to life for over a decade and he has given the MI6 Intelligence Officer an especially rugged, yet elegant charisma during that time.

At the end of the day, though, Daniel Craig is ready to give his crown to someone else. This is the short but frank advice he offers to the next James Bond actor.

Daniel Craig Says to Future James Bond Actor: ‘Don’t Be S#*%’

Although Pierce Brosnan says he would fight Daniel Craig for a chance to star in a James Bond musical, maybe don’t hold your breath on that one. The same can probably be said about Mark Strong‘s future appearance in the series because he actually butchered his audition many years ago. So, who will play the international badass next? Could it be a woman? George Lazenby doesn’t see a problem with that, but Daniel Craig isn’t so sure. Regardless, Craig wants to make sure whoever takes on his role doesn’t mess up the magic put into the character since its conception decades ago.

In talking to Kevin Hart on his podcast, Daniel Craig’s first bit of advice simply stated “Don’t be s#*%!” The statement comes as half-joke, half-sincere from the Brit. He follows it with a lengthier explanation, however. Craig says:

“I would say you’ve got to grab it and make it your own. I think that’s the way to go forward. I mean, I just committed myself to it as much as I possibly could and tried to sort of elevate it as much as I could. I hope I’ve left it in a good place and I hope the next person can just make it fly. It’s an amazing franchise, I still think there’s a lot of stories to tell.”

Throwing it Back to an Old SNL Spoof

Even Daniel Craig himself couldn’t fathom the reach that the James Bond series would garner. He reflected on that recently telling Good Morning America: “I think it will take me 15 years to unpack all of this. It’s so crazy. Getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, that’s so surreal to me from where I come from in life. So, yeah I’m kind of just taking it all in.”

Even SNL spoofed a “preview” clip from Craig’s “No Time to Die” ahead of its release. It shows James Bond as he tries his luck at a table of Craps in Vegas. Fans say “Seeing Daniel Craig laughing and being this happy is a sight I didn’t know I needed.”
