During a recent appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden, Daniel Craig spoke about Brosnan’s advice by stating, “Pierce Brosnan said to me, ‘Just enjoy the ride.’ Just enjoy it I just started enjoying it a year ago. That’s funny.”
Daniel Craig assumed the role of James Bond in 2006 for the film Casino Royale. He went on to play the British spy for 15 years. Along with Casino Royale, his other Bond films were Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre, and No Time To Die.
(WARNING: Spoilers) In No Time to Die, Daniel Craig’s Bond met his match and was unable to escape the final explosion. The death served as Craig’s exit from the James Bond franchise.
But, as previously reported, this exit was what Daniel Craig envisioned. In a recent interview, he stated, “When I started as Bond on Casino Royale, one of the early discussions I had with Barbara [Broccoli] and Michael [G. Wilson] was that I would like to be killed off [the franchise] when I am finished.”
Despite planning his own James Bond death, Daniel Craig admitted that he will miss the iconic role. “I’ll miss everything, I think. I’ll miss the collaboration. I mean, hopefully, I’ll keep working. And I’ll have a lot of other lovely jobs. But it’s very, very, very rare air.”
Daniel Craig also shared that he has had the privilege of being involved in the James Bond franchise and, apart from the Marvel films, there aren’t many movies that are as big as the Bond films. “[The franchise] was there before me. And it will be there after me. But I’ve had a chance to be part of all of this. And if you can’t get it up for a Bond movie as an actor, what can you get it up for?”
Pierce Brosnan Recalls Meeting Daniel Craig & Giving Him Advice.
During the 2020’s Livestream commentary for Goldeneye, Pierce Brosnan recalled meeting Daniel Craig as well as offering him some advice for the James Bond role.
“We did pass in the night, Daniel and I,” Brosnan explained. “When my day was done. I knew that Daniel was going to be, and had been offered, the part. He was very apprehensive about it,”
Brosnan then stated that he remembered seeing Daniel Craig one night at a club. He was having a great time with friends. “He was really wrestling with it, that I just said, ‘Go do it. You can do it. You’ll be brilliant. You’ll kick yourself if you don’t. Snap out of it. And go be Bond!’ And boy, did he ever?”
