Dave Grohl and his Foo Fighters are coming to the big screen this winter. The band is starring in its first feature-length horror comedy film.

The film, titled Studio 666 is slated to be released to theaters across the nation in February 2022.

“After decades of ridiculous music videos and numerous music documentaries under our collective belts, it was finally time to take it to the next level,” says Dave Grohl of the upcoming project.

“Like most things Foo, Studio 666 began with a far-fetched idea that blossomed into something bigger than we ever imagined possible,” the Foo Fighter continues of the film.

Grohl adds that the group has been working on the project in secret for the past couple of years.

“Now, with the help of Tom Ortenberg and the team at Open Road Films, we can finally let this cat out of the bag,” Dave Grohl continues. “After keeping it our best kept secret for two years.”

Based On A Story Written By Dave Grohl

This upcoming Foo Fighters feature film is based on a story written by Dave Grohl. The screenplay was created by Jeff Buhler and Rebecca Hughes.

The Foo Fighter frontman adds that the upcoming feature film is filmed at the same home where the band recorded their most recent album, Medicine at Midnight.

“Told you that place was haunted!” Grohl says of the house.

“We wanted to recapture the classic magic that all of our favorite rock and roll movies had,” Grohl adds of Studio 666. “But with a twist: hilarious gore that f—ing rocks.”

In their upcoming film, the Foo Fighters move into an Encino California mansion. The band is planning to record the group’s long-awaited tenth studio album. However, things go awry for Dave Grohl and his fellow band members shortly after they arrive at the California mansion.

Soon, the Foo Fighters find themselves in a battle with some spooky supernatural forces. These forces seem to be focused on keeping the group from completing the new album. While also threatening the lives of the band members.

A Major Cast Of Characters

Studio 666 stars Grohl and his bandmates Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, and Rami Jaffee, who play themselves. The film also features a cast of unique players guest-starring throughout. These stars include Whitney Cummings Leslie Grossman, Will Forte, Jenna Ortega, and Jeff Garlin.

Studio 666 is a perfect combination of all things I love: Rock, horror, and comedy all tied together in a very thrilling motion picture,” says the film’s director, BJ McDonnell.

“I am so excited to have teamed up with the Foo Fighters to create an old-school ‘band’ movie,” McDonnell adds. “It’s been years since we’ve seen something like the Beatles ‘Help!’, the Monkees Head, or Kiss’ Meets the Phantom of the Park.”

According to McDonnell, the upcoming film mixes the best of these classics with a fun dose of horror.

“Take that ’60s, ’70s old-school band film fun, mix it with horror, and Studio 666 is born!” the director exclaims I am so ecstatic for audiences of film and music to come together and enjoy our film.”

“Be ready to laugh, scream and headbang in your popcorn,” Grohl says of the film. “Studio 666 will f–k you up.”
