Many of the cast members from “Deadliest Catch” came from a long line of fishers.

So, it’s no surprise when you see a captain making his work a family business. This is certainly the case for to of the fishermen this season. Captain Sig Hansen brought his daughter Mandy aboard the F/V Northwestern. Most recently, “Deadliest Catch” fans saw Captain Johnathan Hillstrand and his wife, Heather, on board the Time Bandit.

Although Heather mostly stayed in the wheelhouse with Johnathan, she did offer to assist the crew on deck. This fearless offer certainly impressed some fans.

“It was interesting that Johnathan brought his wife on for this trip,” wrote one fan in a Reddit thread. “She asked if she should go on the deck to help. Does anyone know if she was a deckhand in her younger days?”

Another fan quickly countered with “his wife wasn’t being serious when she asked to go on deck.”

Whether she was serious or not, simply stepping foot onto a boat navigating the Bering Sea takes courage. So, we give her full props!

How Did ‘Deadliest Catch’ Star Johnathan Hillstrand and Wife Heather Meet?

“A couple who crab fishes together, stays together,” isn’t that what they say? Well, that’s certainly the case for “Deadliest Catch” star Johnathan Hillstrand and his wife Heather. The two have been married for four years. The time they’ve shared together as a married couple may be short, but that doesn’t make it any less sweet. In fact, according to their social media posts, they both seem blissfully in love. They even went on a romantic getaway to Hawaii last year.

Heather and Johnathan met in church and were married in 2017. Heather has three children from a previous marriage. And you best believe Johnathan is absolutely in love with Heather. This video proves it all. The video was taken on the couple’s wedding day. During the video, Hillstrand sings a verse from the song he attempted to serenade his wife. However, he said that the serenade never worked out because he was “crying like a baby.”

And Heather seems perfectly fine with her husband’s dangerous career path. In fact, she’s boarded the Time Bandit many times before this season of “Deadliest Catch.” In fact, Hillstrand shared a photo of his wife posing on the boat last year. Along with the photo, he wrote “Girl pow on the TimeBandit!”

However, spending all those months apart while Hillstrand was fishing must not have been easy. Maybe that’s why Heather is joining her husband aboard this season of “Deadliest Catch.” There’s nothing like near-death crab fishing experiences to really solidify a relationship!
