‘Deadliest Catch’ Star Josh Harris Poses For a Sunny Fishing Photo While Filming Spinoff Series in Hawaii

Since “Deadliest Catch: Bloodlines” premiered last year, Josh Harris and his crew have been living the life in Hawaii.

The show follows Josh Harris as he tracks fish in the stunningly beautiful Aloha State. The area is a far cry from the cold and turbulent waters the “Deadliest Catch” stars are used to crab fishing in. While filming for the spinoff series, Harris posed for a photo with mate Jeff. The two were all smiles while standing in front of a rainbow.

Along with the photo, the “Deadliest Catch” star wrote, “Yep jeff is awesome #workflow.”

Fans were quick to point out that Jeff looked a little “green” in the photo.

“Jeff a lil seasick? Looks green,” wrote one fan.

Another fan joked, “Why does Jeff look like a Morgue did his makeup?”

However, the clear skies and rainbow definitely made up for any sea sickness Jeff or Josh may have faced.

What Inspired the ‘Deadliest Catch’ Spinoff?

There’s a reason the show is called “Deadliest Catch: Bloodlines.” And the reason is actually pretty sweet. Josh Harris took over the family business after his father passed away in 2010. Last year, while Harris was remodeling his boat, he found several charts underneath his father’s old bed.

After studying some of the charts, Harris discovered that some of the most “marked up” charts were from locations in Hawaii. He joked about trying to go down there and fish. Well, the joke became real very fast and “Deadliest Catch: Bloodlines” was born. Harris talked about how the show came to be during an interview in 2020.

“We were remodeling our boat, found some charts underneath my dad’s bed that we haven’t seen in a long time. And I was joking around during lunch one day after we found them. About 50 charts, there were a couple of them that were really marked up from in Hawaii. And I was like, ‘Yea, let’s go find these spots out here and check it out. It’s warm too.’ And we were just joking about it,” said Harris. “But a couple of days later I was on a plane. We started to go check it out. I didn’t really know what we were getting ourselves into, or what we were going to find. But we found a lot of really cool stuff.”

Harris joked that he made another important discovery while filming the new show.

“Come to find out, I suck at fishing…for fish that is,” Harris said with a laugh.

Well, you can’t be great at everything, Josh Harris. Catch Harris and his team on “Deadliest Catch: Bloodlines” on Tuesdays at 9 pm EST on the Discovery Channel.
