Did you know that Dennis Quaid wrote and performed songs long before he became an actor?

It’s true. The 66-year-old actor learned to play the guitar as a kid and has been performing ever since. Now, his lifelong dream of performing on one of the most iconic stages is coming true. Dennis Quaid is performing at the Grand Ole Opry. His one-night, three-hour special will feature a live performance, interviews, and more. During an interview, Quaid opened up about his love for music.

“I’ve been writing and performing songs long before my first acting role,” said Quaid. “I learned to play guitar before I ever memorized a script, so it’s been a lifelong dream to perform on the Grand Ole Opry.”

The special will begin with a half-hour chat called Circle Sessions: Dennis Quaid. The Great Balls of Fire star will open up about his career, his passion for music, and his new film, Reagan. Following the interview, Dennis Quaid will take the stage at the Grand Ole Opry. Quaid will perform alongside Brett Young, Chris Young, and Scotty McCreery. Quaid will finish the night as a guest host on the new show, Circle Country Countdown. The series delivers 30-minutes of country music entertainment led by a panel of celebrities. Quaid’s episode will feature iconic country music couples.

Fans can watch Dennis Quaid’s special via the Circle Network on Monday, March 22nd from 8 pm-1:30 am EST.

Dennis Quaid and His Band ‘We’re Going to Be the Oldest Guys to Make It in Rock N’ Roll’

Quaid picked up a guitar when he was 12 years old and started writing songs. During an interview, Dennis Quaid shared how music has always been a part of his life.

“I’ve been playing guitar since I was 12 years old. And I started writing songs right there because I was a teenager alone in my room a lot,” said Quaid laughing.

Even after his acting career took off, Quaid still found ways to incorporate music into his work.

“Acting came along and it turned out to be great. But I’ve done so many music movies at the same time…It’s something I’ve always done,” said Quaid.

He even had a band in the ’80s called The Eclectics.

“We did really great…We broke up on the night we got a record deal,” said Quaid laughing.

Luckily, his current band, The Sharks, has managed to stick together for a lot longer. In fact, the band has been together for over 18 years. The group started by performing cover songs. But they quickly began writing original songs. In 2018, Dennis Quaid and The Sharks released their first album, Out of the Box.

“We’re going to be the oldest guys to make it in rock n’ roll,” said Quaid.
