At the age of 95, legendary comedic actor Dick Van Dyke is getting out and staying active. And maybe more importantly, he is making a sincere effort to help his community.
This week, Van Dyke did more to bring joy to people than just make them laugh. According to DailyMail.com, the actor went out into his Malibu, California, community and gave his own money away to those he felt were in need. He literally just gave cash to others on Tuesday (March 30).
How cool is that? Here are some additional details about his humanitarian efforts.
According to the DailyMail.com report, Dick Van Dyke was out running errands on Tuesday. He stopped at CVS to purchase some needed items. Then, he reportedly stopped by a bank to make a withdrawal.
With these errands complete, the actor drove to the Malibu Community Labor Exchange. The center, which is located on Civic Center Way, offers assistance to those who are looking for day jobs.
The article reports that Dick Van Dyke drove up to the center and parked outside. It was then that he began to distribute cash from his vehicle to the people who were there to find work.
Just how much cash Dick Van Dyke shared on Tuesday was not reported. However, it’s safe to assume that whatever he shared was gratefully received by the individuals he helped.
In a time where so many people are struggling, gestures like what Van Dyke did this week are needed more than ever. Such acts are a shining ray of light in a world that can appear to be full of darkness. And, such acts can actually improve the lives of other people.
