DMX’s Children Visit Him at Hospital After Heart Attack

The family and children of rap icon DMX are rushing to his side Monday for what may become a “final goodbye.”

50-year-old Earl Simmons, known to fans around the world as DMX, remains in critical condition in a White Plains, New York ICU following his near-fatal heart attack over the weekend. Now, celebrity trade TMZ reports that “several of his children” are rushing to his bedside Monday as doctors are losing hope.

While it is unclear which siblings have made it, DMX has 15 children in total. According to TMZ’s “family source,” the children present are being told this may be their “final goodbye.”

“A number of DMX’s kids have touched down in White Plains, NY, and are now on the ground at the hospital to get time with their father,” TMZ’s source continues. “This as we’re hearing his condition remains unchanged and dire.”

Their visit, however, has been complicated by the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic. The same source cites that each of the icon’s children will only be able to see him one at a time. This is due to strict COVID-19 regulations. DMX’s mother and his fiancee, Desiree, are already present with the legendary rapper. It is unknown whether any of his children have yet been able to see their father Monday.

A prayer vigil will be held later into the day by family, friends, and fans outside of the White Plains hospital.

Icon DMX Suffered Drug Overdose at Home Over the Weekend

The tragic situation is a continuation of Simmons suffering a drug overdose over the weekend. Unfortunately, DMX’s recovery is “near impossible” at this point. The music icon has little brain activity and remains on life support.

TMZ also cites sources that say the rapper was without the oxygen his brain would require for “nearly 30 minutes” after his overdose and resulting heart attack.

Late Saturday afternoon, a representative of DMX’s family released a statement that read:

“Last night, Earl ‘DMX’ Simmons was rushed to the hospital after collapsing at home. At this time, he remains in ICU in critical condition. Earl has been a warrior his entire life. This situation represents yet another road he must conquer.”

“The Simmons Family appreciates the overwhelming outpouring of heartfelt love, encouragement, support, and prayers for Earl,” the family statement adds. “Earl is someone whose life and music have been a source of inspiration and strength to so many people around the world.  It is reassuring to see his fans return that same passion and energy to him during his time of need.”

All our best to DMX’s family, friends, and fans during this difficult, tragic time.
