Dog the Bounty Hunter’s daughter Bonnie Chapman has posted a heart-wrenching tribute to her late mom, Beth Chapman, on Instagram. A lengthy caption about her mom accompanies a photo of the two of them when Bonnie was just a toddler.
“Mom,” the post begins, “Today you would’ve been one year older. We would’ve had one more year of laughs and smiles. I miss you every day. I have done everything you’ve taught me to do. And I can confidently say it’s been making me a better woman. I wish you could be here to see it. I know you can now, but it’s just not the same.”
Chapman posted the tribute a week ago, on her late mom’s birthday. In previous social media posts, she has said that her father cheated on her mother and that her mother kept Dog the Bounty Hunter’s career on track while the two were married.
Dog the Bounty Hunter’s Daughter Pens Heartbreaking Post
Chapman went on to say that life is not the same without her mother around to share it. She added that she yearns to hug her mother just one more time and that she knows if her mother were still around she would comfort her daughter now.
“This new normal is unbearable at times, knowing I can’t just call you,” Chapman wrote. “Knowing I can’t celebrate Mother’s Day the same way, or your birthday. I will continue to celebrate, for you. I will continue to remember our laughs and the memories we shared.”
“The yearning I felt as a child despite our little spats, I still wanted to be held by you,” she continued. “I’m left with that feeling for the rest of my life. The feeling of just wanting one more hug. I remember our last hug. I remember your last words to me, our last communication. I’ll never forget the way you continued to reassure me even when you knew your time was up. I still find myself wanting to call you, looking through old texts and laughing at your jokes. I understand so much more now looking back on the advice you gave me. I’m sorry I couldn’t understand it until you were gone. I love you with all my heart. Thank you for giving me life, thank you for doing your best as a mother. I miss you, mom. Happy birthday, I hope you’re at peace.”
Chapman’s mother, then Dog the Bounty Hunter’s wife, died in a Honolulu hospital at age 51. She had been placed into a coma while she fought cancer which eventually claimed her life.
Chapman Was Not Invited to Her Father’s Wedding
Chapman likely misses her mother all the more given the rift between her and her father. Dog the Bounty Hunter reportedly failed to invite two of his daughters, Bonnie and Cecily Chapman, to his September wedding to Francie Frane.
According to TMZ, Dog’s daughters weren’t sure what explained the snub. But they said they had no hard feelings toward Frane.
In a statement, Dog and Frane said they loved both daughters and continued to pray for their health and happiness. As for why the girls weren’t invited to their wedding, they said they wanted “to keep any family issues private.”
