Dolly Parton may have been touched by an angel, but says she certainly is not one.

Dolly spoke with ET Canada about how she felt playing an angel in her new musical “Christmas on the Square” currently streaming on Netflix.

The Angelic Dolly Parton

When it comes to being an angel in real life, she certainly doesn’t believe she is one. However, Dolly does believe she has a guardian angel looking out for her.

“I feel like I always have one. I’m very much a spiritual person. I just kind of live in the spirit,” she says. “Yeah. I do feel like I’m surrounded by light and love and angels; guardian angels. So, yeah, I’m just one of those kinds of people, sappy like that.”

People often call Dolly Parton an angel in real life, not only for her astounding voice but for her big heart and the positivity she radiates to others. Not surprisingly, it was easy for her to play an angel in “Christmas on the Square.”

“I feel there are things out there, and I almost feel projected so it was easy and fun for me to play an angel,” she says. “I’m certainly no angel, but it was fun to play one on TV, as they say.”

Spreading Positivity During a Pandemic

When asked about her unbelievable positivity, especially throughout this year, and how she remains the “most positive human anyone has ever met,” she laughs and says without hesitation:

“How do I not do it? People need some light and some sunshine, and people need to know that other people are out there still doing things,” she says. “I’m not one to lay around or mope around. Even when you don’t like what your seeing, like with all this COVID stuff, I think I still need to be productive. I still need to do something.”

“I always say that every day when I wake up I ask God to use me to let me shine and radiate with his love and light. Let me uplift people and glorify him so I set out about my day trying to do that. I just want to make people feel good which makes me feel good, and it’s working so far,” says Dolly with a smile and a laugh.
