Legendary country music singer and songwriter Dolly Parton once made an appearance on the hit quiz show Jeopardy!

No, Parton wasn’t a game contestant or a guest host filling in for the late Alex Trebek, who passed away last year. The “Jolene” and “I Will Always Love You” singer was the answer to a Jeopardy! clue in an episode of the game show. While it may be simple recognition, many celebrities consider it a great honor to appear as an answer on Jeopardy!. Along with Parton, celebrities like Ashton Kutcher and Pauley Perrette have also had the honor of being Jeopardy! answers. Parton’s clue deals with her 2016 studio album that became her first to take top billing on country charts in 25 years.

“What she calls her ‘Love of Many Colors Album,’ a 2016 release by this singer is her first number one country album in 25 years,” the clue asks.

“Who is Dolly Parton?” is, of course, the correct answer to the clue. “I’ll take famous country stars doing their thing for 600, Alex.”

The clue is referring to Parton’s 2016 hit studio album Pure and Simple which she calls her “love of many colors” album. The contestant, Karen, answers the question correctly but is unable to win the game, unfortunately. Karen is still a winner in our eyes though, as is anyone well versed in Dolly Parton trivia.

Pure and Simple is Parton’s 45th solo studio album and also one of her most successful ones to date. It sold well over 117,000 copies in the United States alone. The album contains hit songs “Head Over High Heels” and the title track “Pure and Simple.”

‘Jeopardy!’ Guest Hosts Take Turns at Podium

Jeopardy! has undergone some major changes recently with the passing of Trebek late last year. The popular quiz show has chosen to forgo finding a permanent replacement for the longtime host and instead is employing celebrities as guest hosts. Former contestant Ken Jennings, executive producer Mike Richard and journalist Katie Couric have each taken a turn as host. Dr. Mehmet Oz is currently hosting the show and will continue through this week. NFL superstar Aaron Rodgers will assume the hosting spot after Oz.

It begs the question of if the heavily popular game show would look to Dolly Parton as a potential host. That move would excite a lot of people, including us here at Outsider.
