During a recent interview with action star Dolph Lundgren, he spoke out about Alec Baldwin and the fatal shooting on the movie set of Rust.

Lundgren, 64, is well-known for his role as Soviet boxer Ivan Drago in the Sylvester Stallone-led Rocky IV. He also starred in numerous other action films, including Red Scorpion, The Punisher, Universal Soldier, and many more. Most recently, he returned to his role for The Expendables 4 due out next year.

While speaking to FOX News this week, the outlet asked Lundgren about Alec Baldwin. Last month, the famous actor killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza after pulling the trigger and discharging a live round in their direction while on set. Since Lundgren has tons of experience using firearms on the set of numerous action movies, he chimed in on the matter.

“It’s a serious business having real firearms on a film set. Usually an armorer, they’re very serious people and they’re very committed and the guns are checked,” Lundgren explained.

“It’s crazy,” Lundgren added when speaking to FOX News. “I don’t know how that happened. There should never be any live ammo around a movie set.”

The Swedish-born actor knows how important it is to ensure that shootouts appear real on-screen. However, he also knows there are plenty of gun safety protocols usually in place to avoid a tragic incident like Alec Baldwin’s recent shooting.

“I used to do a couple dry fires into the ground before I use it. There is a protocol that is pretty strict and I’m sure safety on sets is going to be even more [strict] now,” Lundgren predicted.

Further Details of the Alec Baldwin Incident on the Set of ‘Rust’

On October 21st, while filming the western Rust, assistant director Dave Halls handed Alec Baldwin a Colt revolver. The actor used the gun while rehearsing a scene and pulled the trigger without realizing someone had loaded it. The live round discharged in the direction of the camera killing Hutchins and injuring Souza.

Ever since, the 30 Rock actor has vowed to cooperate with the Santa Fe Police Department’s ongoing investigation. Baldwin also met with Hutchins’ family within hours of the shooting and spoke at length with her grieving husband and their nine-year-old son. He later broke his silence to the public in a post on social media.

“There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours,” Alec Baldwin tweeted.

“I’m fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred. And I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family. My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna,” the actor concluded.

The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Department is still conducting a criminal investigation into the incident.
