On Wednesday night, Duck Dynasty star Jase Robertson shared another update on his daughter Mia’s facial surgery and thanked their friends and fans for their support.
This morning, Mia underwent “extensive” surgery on her jaw. She’s endured multiple surgeries over the years to help fix a facial issue from birth. The 17-year-old has now had 13 operations to fix her jaw, cleft lip and palate. In fact, today’s surgery lasted six hours – the longest of all her operations.
During an earlier update today, Robertson shared further details on Mia’s surgery. Doctors began her operation at 10:30 a.m. this morning. The surgeons cut and reset both of her jaws in order to improve her overall health and speech. The doctors assumed her surgery would take around five hours, but it took an extra hour to complete.
In January, Jase’s wife, Missy, shared a post about their daughter highlighting their medical trip to Dallas, Texas. They’ve been vocal about their appreciation for Mia’s doctors and Jase also thanked their friends and family tonight for their continued support.
“(Photo is pre-op) We got to see Mia and she is hanging tough after a 6 hour surgery. She is in the ICU. The team of doctors is amazing & feel ‘really good about the procedure.’ To our friends/prayer warriors, we thank you. As believers we sense God’s presence & know He’s at work!” Jase Robertson wrote on Twitter.
Jase Robertson Calls His Daughter ‘Brave’ and ‘Amazing’
During a previous update about his daughter Mia, Jase Robertson praised the teenager for her courage. His daughter has spent more time under the knife than any child or teenager should have to that early on in their life. However, she seems to take it all in stride and is a ray of light to everyone around her.
“[Mia] asks the nurses and doctors questions, tells them funny stories and talks about the food she wants to eat. She never shows fear,” Jase Robertson said on Instagram, complimenting his daughter.
The father made sure to brag about Mia, and deservedly so. She’s faced numerous obstacles in her young life, but continues to smile and laugh throughout, even right before her 13th operation.
“This girl is one of the bravest people I know. … She’s an amazing kid!” he said proudly of Mia.
In addition to his heartfelt words for his daughter, Robertson shared a bible verse with his social media followers.
“But now, this is what the Lord says— he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: ‘Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.’ Isaiah 43:1,” Robertson posted.
Hopefully, this most recent surgery will alleviate some of Mia’s issues, if not solve them altogether. It sounds like the Robertson family, and especially Mia, have tons of support as she recovers from her operation over the coming days. We all wish Mia a speedy recovery.
