“Duck Dynasty” stars Phil and Miss Kay Robertson aren’t going hungry any time soon. By the sound of things, Phil can’t get enough of Miss Kay’s cooking. And we’re a little jealous, to say the least. Suffice it to say the Robertson family matriarch knows her way around a pie.
The longtime couple seems happy as ever. To what degree that happiness comes down to the smell of jambalaya wafting through the house all the time, though? We can’t be sure. One thing we do know, however, is that the “Dysfunction to Dynasty” series they’ve been doing on YouTube has given fans some great insight into the lives of the “Duck Dynasty” family.
The recently posted Chapter 8, “Family is Dynasty: COULDN’T DO IT ALONE” is the final chapter of the series. Phil and Miss Kay shot straight, answering rapid-fire questions during the video. And one of the questions related to the things that Kay likes to cook. Her response?
“I’m real big on a-rollin’ dough. Peach cobbler, chocolate pie, coconut pie, egg custard pie- which is from the past, by the way, most women wouldn’t know that,” Miss Kay said.
Phil was daydreaming of pie as his wife ran down the list. And we don’t blame him.
“She’s a terrific cook. No doubt about that. A wonderful cook,” Phil said, offering up some major praise.
“Not perfect,” Kay answered, to which her husband countered, saying she was “pretty close” to perfect.
“Phil, I ruined a pie- I ruined a cake last night. That’s so nice of you to say that,” the “Duck Dynasty” matriarch joked.
It’s hard not to smile watching the two of them interact with each other. And it’s even harder resisting the urge to make a pie right now.
‘Duck Dynasty’ Matriarch Miss Kay is Basically a Professional Chef at this Point
Okay, so she’s not screaming at a sous chef behind the line in a fancy restaurant. And Michelin stars are great, but we’re going to go out on a limb and say that a great home-cooked meal can compete with any restaurant out there.
Over the years, Miss Kay has shared countless meals and recipes from “Duck Dynasty” to her own published cookbook. “Miss Kay’s Duck Commander Kitchen” was published in 2013 and features recipes she’s been cooking for the Robertson clan for years.
If that wasn’t enough, she opened her own bakery in 2016. The West Monroe, Louisiana location of Miss Kay’s Sweets and Eats appears to be closed these days. But it left customers more than satisfied while it was still cooking.
