‘Duck Dynasty’ Star Miss Kay Robertson Says She Is ‘Healing Nicely’ After Hospitalization from Dog Bite

Duck Dynasty star Miss Kay is recovering after her dog Bobo attacked her face last month. The dog tore open her upper lip and ripped off part of her bottom lip as she went to kiss it.

TMZ (graphic content warning) reported that the Duck Dynasty matriarch is “healing nicely” and may not need surgery. The 73-year-old has recovered well enough since the attack last month, that she was able to go on a recent family vacation to Alabama.

Her husband, Phil Robertson, said the dog split her upper lip in two and took a “chunk” out of the bottom lip.

TMZ said Kay Robertson still has trouble chewing but is managing as she heals. It’s unclear why the dog attacked her in the first place. Though, as usual, Uncle Si had a theory on his Duck Call Room podcast.

“This is for dog lovers,” Uncle Si warned. “Do not kiss your pet while he’s asleep. You scared him and he wakes up and bites you. That’s what happened to Miss Kay.”

Miss Kay called into the podcast at one point and said it felt like watching a terrible movie.

“I thought I was watching a horror film, but then I realized it was me,” she said.

But she said she chose to look at the situation as a positive.

“I’m sure God has a plan with this,” Miss Kay told the guys on Duck Call Room. “I’m gonna help somebody just ’cause I went through this, that’s what I’m hoping for. [Doctor] said in a week I won’t be sore, but right now I’m in pain. You know what? I learned that you can live in pain. Maybe that’s part of my learning lesson. I can comfort other people that had something like this happen.”

Miss Kay Demanded Dog Be Left Alone

Often when a dog attacks someone, it’s put down by the owner or in some cases the county. Miss Kay demanded as she was being wheeled into the emergency room that no harm would come to Bobo.

Phil Robertson recalled her last words before doctors examined her injuries on his Unashamed podcast.

“She said, ‘You make sure you tell them boys don’t put him to sleep,” notes her husband, Phil. “Don’t hurt that dog because it wasn’t his fault. I said, ‘Well, it was his fault, alright.”

Phil explained the terrifying scene when his wife came into the room after the attack.

“She takes the rag off her face. And I’m looking at her top lip, which was split in two, about a quarter of an inch. That’s a big cut. Her bottom lip, over on the right side, there was just a chunk gone. Bleeding profusely is an understatement.”

But despite the drama, it seems Miss Kay may make a full recovery despite a few scars and a life lesson about letting sleeping dogs lie.
