Ahead of the upcoming presidential election, Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson discussed why he supports President Donald Trump. He described Trump as “caustically brilliant.”
“I’m a Trump supporter. I weigh a man in politics, I judge them by what they’ve done,” Robertson said. “That’s how I judge them politicians. I preached the gospel to Donald J. Trump. He’s heard the good news because I told him. He listened. My definition for him in two words. This is what seems to fit the way he rolls. Caustically brilliant. Now you can get on both sides of that. You can accentuate the caustic part of a man, or you can look at irregardless the caustic nature of some of his wordage, he’s brilliant.”
In the video, Robertson described Trump as possessing “quickness,” “keenness” and being “shrewd” in his decisions. Robertson was a fan of the way Trump presents himself to foreign powers. He also supported Trump cutting government regulations and trade agreements.
“He is remarkably shrewd when it comes to his policy. It’s remarkable,” he said. “I’ve never seen a president get that much done in the face of this much blow back and opposition. I’ve never seen a guy do what this dude has done.”
Phil Robertson said he discussed Jesus with Donald Trump.
Robertson said he discussed the gospel with Trump in a private meeting before the 2016 election. He showed the president a diagram about Jesus Christ.
“I reached in my pocket and I pulled out a diagram of the gospel, an arrow coming down out of heaven — God becoming flesh — the cross, the tomb, and an arrow coming out of the tomb and the last arrow coming back down to earth,” Robertson said. “I said, ‘Whatever happens, Trump, don’t miss this.’”
Robertson says he considers Trump to be a believer. “I’m convinced he’s put his faith in Jesus and I’m convinced he’s a brother,” he said.
In 2019, Robertson publicly supported Trump for president at a rally. “If you’re pro-God, pro-America, pro-gun and pro-duck hunting, that’s all I want,” Robertson said.
