Duck Dynasty Star Phil Robertson’s Fans Are Begging Him to Run for President

by Josh Lanier

Phil Robertson‘s recent post about potential Thanksgiving travel restrictions because of the pandemic has some fans asking the reality star to run for president.

“Thanksgiving decorating suggestion …” he captioned the meme he posted Saturday.

Phil Robertson’s post is referencing recent talk from governors and mayors about potential restrictions on holiday travel. That’s because the coronavirus pandemic in the U.S. continues to worsen. According to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University, the daily average of new cases is 139,000, up more than 35 percent a week ago. The U.S. hit a new high in most new cases recorded a day Friday with 177,200, and hospitals are reaching their breaking point, CNBC reports.

In light of that, politicians are considering crack downs.

For example, Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot last week asked residents to cancel Thanksgiving plans and stay at home.

“This is serious life and death,” Lightfoot said at a press conference last week, according to CNBC. “We are sounding the alarm that we are at this inflection point where we have to do more than we’ve already done.”

Phil Robertson Fans Want Him As President

Some of the Duck Dynasty patriarch’s most ardent supporters see his political posts as a way into office. At least, they hope the outspoken conservative Christian will one day run. In the comment of his most recent post, fans lined up to pledge their support.

“I wish you were president if Trump can’t be,” one person posted. Another woman used the hashtag #PhilRobertsonForPresident which has spread to a number of other posts about him.

Others were just happy for what they say was someone standing up for their traditions.

“You got that right Mr.Phil ! Thank you for speaking truth!,” one person posted. “I kneel before God period. I follow His law, not corrupted men,” someone else said.

And some people just saw some great new merchandise ideas.

“Looks like a new Duck Commander T-shirt to me! Hint hint.” one man prodded.
