They should update the idiom to “Nothing certain in life but death, taxes, and Uncle Si will have a cup of tea in his hand.” The “Duck Dynasty” oddball uncle is never seen without his trusty glass of unsweetened tea.
Don’t believe it? Here he is being honored for his time serving in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. Blue Tupperware cup still in hand.
He claims to drink nearly two gallons a day.
Well, now Uncle Si is spilling the tea on how he makes his tea. In a YouTube video, the 72-year-old gives a step-by-step tutorial on how he does it. Not to spoil anything, but it involves the microwave.
The story of Si’s tea obsession and his famous blue glass has an interesting back story. He wrote about it in his book, “Si-cology 1: Tales and Wisdom from Duck Dynasty’s Favorite Uncle.” He originally received the glass as part of a care package from his mom while he served in Vietnam.
“Somehow, Momma’s iced tea cup stayed with me all the way through Vietnam, and I’ve carried it in my back pocket ever since,” he writes. “I guess if it can make it through the napalm, mustard gas, and rice wine of Vietnam, I’ll probably take it to my grave.”
You can ever purchase your own Uncle Si tea cup. Just not his.
The Robertsons stay busy
Since “Duck Dynasty” ended its five-year run in 2017, the Robertson clan has stayed very busy.
Willie Robertson recently released a video discussing the world’s problems with his “god children.” He his wife Korie recently shared photos from their vacation time in Colorado. The photos are available on her Instagram account.
