With Thanksgiving right around the corner, Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson gave his fans a decoration suggestion that can be used for the holiday.
Robertson posted his Thanksgiving decoration on Instagram on Saturday afternoon. The decoration is a play on the Texas “Come and Take It” flag. However, this particular flag features a Thanksgiving turkey with the phrase “Come and Take It.”
He posted the photo with a caption that reads “Thanksgiving decorating suggestion…”
The original version of the flag has become a hallmark of Texas pride, with its “Come and Take It” message one of Texas’ most-defining slogans. It was the first flag to make an appearance in the Texas Revolution and almost 200 years later it is still seeing creative use.
Meanwhile, the famous flag can be found in Texas on a variety of items. You might find the flag or a version of it on shirts, neckties, underwear, license plates, album covers, food trucks, murals, hats, koozies, fraternity walls, and even tattooed onto the skin of some Texans.
Furthermore, the original version of the flag features a canon with the famous slogan on it. However, many different variations of the flag have been seen over the years including some with guns and the “Come and Take It” message. And now, there’s Robertson’s version of it, which seems like a fitting outdoor decoration for Texans on Thanksgiving.
Phil Robertson Says ‘Thank You’ to Veterans
Robertson sent a thank you to all Americans in the U.S. armed forces on Veteran’s Day. However, he made sure to highlight two members of his family specifically.
In light of Veteran’s Day, Robertson posted a message to his followers on Instagram on Wednesday afternoon. He sent a message recognizing all veterans for their service. However, he specifically highlighted his brother Si [Silas] Robertson, and his grandson-in-law Jay Stone, who served a tour in Afghanistan with the U.S. Army.
“To Si, Stone, and all the veterans out there, it can’t be said enough: Thank you. You have our gratitude and love today and every day,” Robertson wrote on Instagram. “And to all you young bucks: Listen to the stories veterans share with you. These are stories of American liberty.”
