Saved By The Bell star, Dustin Diamond is in the hospital after experiencing full body pain.
Diamond, 44, went to a Florida hospital this weekend seeking treatment for pain throughout his body. His medical team is reportedly now testing him for what they fear may be cancer. Diamond lost his mother to breast cancer, so he’s getting a biopsy to pinpoint the potential problem. It’s unclear what form of cancer medical professionals potentially suspect.
What Happened To Dustin Diamond?
Diamond life’s after Saved By The Bell has been a bit tumultuous. Diamond portrayed his beloved character, Screech, for 13 years. He started when he was 10-years old with the original sitcom series. He continued to play Screech for all the spin-off and revival shows. By the time the final revival show ended, Diamond was 23 years-old. He continued to make appearances in films including American Pie Presents: The Book of Love and Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star. However, he never landed a role that allowed him to break-out of the slapstick comedy characters he was known for.
Diamond quickly made the switch from the big screen to celebrity reality shows, making appearances on shows including Celebrity Fit Club and the UK’s Celebrity Big Brother. Shortly after the appearances Diamond found himself caught up in a scandal. In what he claims was an attempt to increase bookings for his comedy tour, Diamond released a sex tape titled Screeched: Saved By The Smell. However, during an episode of Where Are They Now? Diamond denied that it was him in the film. He claimed that a stunt double played his part.
Diamond Sabotoges His Relationship With Fellow Cast Members
Diamond has had several run-ins with the law, starting with an arrest in 2016. Police arrested Diamond for possession of a switchblade knife, which he allegedly used while threatening someone during a bar fight.
As if that weren’t enough, Diamond even released a tell-all book about his experiences on Saved By The Bell. In his book, Behind The Bell, Diamond claims that his time with his castmates involved lots of “sex, drugs, and wild parties.”
Fellow castmate, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, challenged Diamond’s claims. Diamond later admitted that most of the book was a lie. Following the controversy, former castmate, Mario Lopez, interviewed Diamond on Extra. The tension is palpable throughout this uncomfortable interview.
