Dwayne Johnson has proved himself to be a versatile actor. He’s hoping to expand that in the future when he comes to rock the holiday season. Johnson is teaming up with some of his frequent collaborators to put together a holiday adventure film. Johnson announced the project early this morning on his Instagram.

They haven’t released many details about the film yet. However, the team behind the film makes it sound like a winner already. If you enjoyed Dwayne Johnson’s recent films, there’s a good chance that you’ll be excited about the upcoming holiday film. Chris Morgan is currently working on the script. He penned Hobbs & Shaw and helped with other Fast & Furious movies that featured The Rock. Additionally, Jake Kasdan, who directed Jumanji will helm the production. Kasdan also directed Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, Orange County, and Bad Teacher. So, he knows how to handle comedy as well as action. This explains why he and Johnson work so well together. Check out his Instagram post below.

In the post’s caption, Dwayne Johnson said the movie is tentatively titled Red One. He says Red One will be “an innovative holiday event project,” that will bring something new to the holiday genre.  He went on to say that Hiram Garcia, president of Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions developed the story.

Dwayne Johnson ended his post by saying, “Can’t wait to take you and your families on this very special HOLIDAY ADVENTURE.” However, we’re all going to have to wait a while to see this take shape. The Rock said shooting for the project starts in the summer of 2022.

More About Dwayne Johnson’s Upcoming Holiday Adventure

According to The Hollywood Reporter, we’ll be able to unwrap Dwayne Johnson’s holiday adventure film in 2023. It should come out just in time for the holiday season that year. Additionally, they stated that Johnson is starring and could be playing Santa. The thought of The Rock cruising the world in a sleigh pulled by reindeer makes Red One worth the wait.

Amazon picked up the project over the summer. They were reportedly intrigued by the branding around the film as well as the business opportunities around it. They hope to make money off of the film through both streaming and merchandising. They’re billing Red One as “a globe-trotting, four-quadrant action-adventure comedy, imagining a whole new universe to explore within the holiday genre.”

Dwayne Johnson and his partners are keeping the rest of the details about Red One under wraps. However, judging by the names attached to the film, it will be a solid addition to your holiday watchlist. They probably won’t release much more information about the film until they start shooting next summer.
