Dwayne Johnson Updates Stance on Run for US Presidency: ‘I Don’t Know the First Thing About Politics’

Here are a few words for you to contemplate: President of the United States Dwayne Johnson. Just think about it – The Rock governing from the Oval Office and meeting the leaders of other countries.

Most likely, that is a thought that brings joy to many of you. On the other hand, it’s a thought that many others hope never becomes a reality

Should he rise to the most powerful position in America, Dwayne Johnson wouldn’t be the first celebrity with a famous career that eventually led him to the presidency. President Ronald Reagan and President Donald Trump both come to mind. Before he became president, Reagan was an actor. Trump was a famous real estate developer and reality television star before his time in the White House.

So, could a Dwayne Johnson presidency be in the future for the United States of America? If you ask the man himself, his answer is can be summed up as probably not – but you never know. One hesitation about pursuing the position that has been coveted by so many is his lack of political experience. However, as most of us are aware this is something that hasn’t stopped others from pursuing the presidency.

The movie star talked about the possibility of a future political career for him during a recent interview with Vanity Fair. According to that article by Chris Heath, Johnson has 270 million followers on Instagram. He has also discussed his presidential future – or lack thereof – on the popular social media platform.

“I don’t think our Founding Fathers EVER envisioned a six-four, bald, tattooed, half-Black, half-Samoan, tequila drinking, pick up truck driving, fanny pack wearing guy joining their club—but if it ever happens it’d be my honor to serve you, the people,” Dwayne Johnson once posted on Instagram.

Dwayne Johnson Said He ‘Cares Deeply About Our Country’

So, of course, Heath wanted to find out more about Dwayne Johnson’s political ambitions – if he has them. Based on the article, The Rock isn’t actively pursuing a run for president at this point. However, a presidential run could be in his future. In fact, he is looked into a run which he described as, “a small amount of research and analysis to see where this comes from and to see what it could look like in the future.”

Johnson also offered years as to when he might make a presidential run – should he decide to do so. And, as he said, there is good news for him should he decide to run: “… indicators are all very positive — in, for example, 2024, and in, for example, 2028.”

While “indicators” are “very positive” for a successful presidential run, Dwayne Johnson is also aware that he is not a person who has the political experience to be president even though he loves his country and his fellow Americans.

“You know, at the end of the day, I don’t know the first thing about politics. I don’t know the first thing about policy. I care deeply about our country. … care about every f*****g American who bleeds red, and that’s all of them. And—there’s no delusion here—I may have some decent leadership qualities, but that doesn’t necessarily make me a great presidential candidate. That’s where I am today.”
