In the past year, Wolf Van Halen, famous guitarist Eddie Van Halen’s son, reintroduced himself as his one-man band, Mammoth WVH.

He started this solo project while he was still a part of Van Halen. The band has since gone their separate ways following the death of Eddie. He landed on the band name as a tribute to his father. His first band was actually named Mammoth.

Wolf Van Halen Reacts to News of Grammy Nomination

Eventually, Wolf Van Halen shared his full debut album with the world on June 11, 2021. It features hit songs like “Distance,” “Don’t Back Down,” “Epiphany,” and “You’re To Blame.”

Since releasing the album, Wolf also went on a massive stadium tour alongside Guns N’ Roses. He will then start his Young Guns tour with the band Dirty Honey in 2022.

Now, after all that work on his debut, Wolf Van Halen is celebrating getting his very own Grammy nomination. He reacted to the news on Twitter by writing quite simply, “Holy shi* I got nominated for a Grammy.”

Wolf Van Halen is up for the Best Rock Song category. His song “Distance” is the song up for the nomination. He is going against Weezer’s “All My Favorite Songs,” Kings of Leon’s “The Bandit,” Paul McCartney’s “Find My Way,” and Foo Fighters’ “Waiting on a War.”

The Grammy Awards will take place on January 31.

From the looks of it, his fans are just as excited as he is. One wrote, “Congratulations on your very first Grammy nomination, Wolf, your father would be very proud of how far you’ve came to earn this award. Keep the amazing music talent and we all can’t wait to hear what you compose next on your next amazing album project.”

Meanwhile, guitarist Alex Skolnick (known for Testament) also applauded the huge news. “Yeah dude. Amazing! So well deserved, glad they got something right.”

Other fans also took it as an opportunity to talk about how many Grammys Van Halen earned. The band was nominated three times and won once. The band won Best Hard Rock Performance with Vocal for “Unlawful Carnal Knowledge.”

Celebrating ‘Distance’

It’s actually been one year now that Wolf Van Halen’s now Grammy-nominated emotional song “Distance” was released. The song was his lead single on the debut Mammoth WVH album.

“‘Distance’ released a year ago today. It’s a special song for two very important reasons. A song commemorating my Pop and our bond, as well as being the very first Mammoth release. It marks the beginning of a new chapter in my life in more ways than one,” he wrote on Instagram alongside a screenshot from the music video.

He went on to thank all his fans that have supported him this year as he ventures into a new solo path.

Wolf Van Halen also closed the message with a tear-worthy message to his late father. He wrote, “I hope you’re watching and I hope you’re still proud, Pop. I love and miss you more than you could ever know.”

Luckily, his father got to listen to the finished track before he passed away.
