Eddie Vedder Announces First U.S. Solo Tour in 10 Years

Eddie Vedder is leaving Pearl Jam behind and taking a short February-only tour with his solo band early next year, marking his first solo U.S. tour in a decade.

Don’t worry, Pearl Jam fans. Vedder and Pearl Jam will return to the road in May 2022 to support the 2020 album “Gigaton.” They have European dates set for June and July.

Vedder’s Solo Band Has Some Talent

Eddie Vedder and his solo band, The Earthlings, start their short, eight-show tour on Feb. 3-4 at New York City’s Beacon Theatre. And the Pearl Jam star has some top band players backing him.

“Red Hot Chili Peppers” stars Chad Smith and Josh Klinghoffer are a part of the band with Aussie guitarist/Jane’s Addiction star Chris Chaney and California breed performer/band producer Andrew Watt.

Vedder’s “Earthling” album drops on Feb. 11 from Seattle Surf/Republic Records.

The singer’s first solo work for the 2007 Golden Globe-winning soundtrack called “Into The Wild.” But he toured with his second album called “Ukulele Songs,” which led to a live DVD called “Water on the Road.”

Vedder’s backing group made their debut at Vedder’s Ohana Festival on Sept. 24. The Who bassist Pino Palladino played with the group, but Chaney will tour with the group.

Two Vedder, Earthlings Songs On The Way

The band’s “Long Way” is No. 10 on the Billboard’s Adult Alternative Airplay chart. Another single, “The Haves,” is also getting some attention from the Ohana Festival.

The band played a few Pearl Jam songs (“Porch,” “Corduroy”) along with a few covers, too. Vedder also summoned some of his from the “Into the Wild” soundtrack as well.

Irish musician Glen Hansard will open the shows with his own solo set.

After New York, the tour goes to Newark, N.J. (Feb. 6), Chicago (Feb. 9), San Diego (Feb. 15), Los Angeles (Feb. 17), and Seattle (Feb. 21-22)

Vedder’s gave Pearl Jam fan organization, Ten Club, early access to tickets through Dec. 5. After that, everyone can get tickets through Ticketmaster.

Vedder, Pearl Jam Reveal They Thought About Breakup

Last week, Loudwire reported that the band almost split after a crowd crush resulted in nine deaths and 26 injuries during the 2000’s Roskilde Festival.

Vedder talked about the aftermath and his return to music in a new audiobook memoir called “I Am Mine.” The Audible Original came out last week but reportedly recorded before the recent Astroworld Festival tragedy in Houston. Ten people died during that Nov. 5 crowd crush during hip-hop artist Travis Scott’s performance.

According to Ultimate Classic Rock, Vedder talked about coping with the 2000 tragedy by taking Spanish guitar lessons from people that didn’t speak English.
