It runs in the family. Granddaughter to Elvis Presley, Riley Keough, does her family proud for the cover of ContentMode Magazine.
If you haven’t seen Riley Keough and Taylour Paige’s Zola, get ready. The digital-age thriller (“based on the legendary tweets” as their marketing totes) is a completely off-the-rails glimpse into the modern world of social media and its implications for all. Specifically Keough’s Stefani – who, amidst the exotic dancing scene, becomes an absolute monster. It’s a breakout role for the granddaughter of Elvis Presley and indie darling, and one that’s resulting in a flood of media attention.
“Thank you @contentmodemagazine” Keough posts to her official Instagram, noting one such instance. Her extensive shoot for ContentMode is as stunning as it is retro-vogue. It’s a fitting showcase for the 32-year-old star and not only her legacy – but her family’s.
“She won’t be coming down,” comments her Zola co-star Taylour Paige. Check out the shots for yourself below, before we get into the relationship these two have built.
The Tragedy of Elvis Presley Extends to Granddaughter Riley Keough
Tragically, loss seems imminent for those in the Presley bloodline. Elvis himself would lose his beloved mother, Gladys, at a relatively young age. Then, the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s own untimely death would shock the world – and his family – to their core.
Generations on, and this sense of sudden, unparalleled loos seems to haunt his kin still. Elvis Presley’s grandson brother to Riley, Benjamin Keough, died in July of 2020 from a self-inflicted gunshot at just 27-years-old.
As Elvis’ loss would mark Priscilla and Lisa Marie Presley for life, so does the horrible loss of Benjamin for Riley. Thankfully, her Zola co-star, Taylour Paige, has been there for Keough through much of this tragedy. The two have become undeniably close, with Paige speaking to her friend’s measure on Instagram and beyond.
“It’s been almost a year since her baby brother moved on to the next dimension. And through THEE most unexplainable pain this is a woman who has emptied herself over and over for nothing but truth. Love. over and over again,” Paige says of Keough.
“However it’s served, love is her angle,” she offers of her co-star. “Love is her message… If you have ever shared space with her, you know to know her is to awaken.”
“I’m really consciously trying to be present”
If one thing is for certain, however, it’s that Benjamin and Elvis Presley are equally as proud of Riley as Taylour. Wherever they are.
“I definitely have hard days, and all kinds of pain and suffering and all that,” the actor tells InStyle for an in-depth Zola interview. “But I think when you realize that’s part of it, and your expectation isn’t to just be feeling joy, that’s been a real shift for me in finding those moments and things to smile about.”
In the end, Keough is doing her best to “really consciously [try] to be present, and not use anything as any kind of escape, and be cognizant of when I’m doing that.”
