In a recently discovered interview with The Dean Z Show, Linda Thompson shares how the relationship with Elvis Presley was very different from other relationships.

“In a normal relationship, you go to work, you come back, you meet for a few hours, you have dinner, [and] you go to sleep. The next day you’re both off doing your thing,” Linda Thompson explains. She then admits then with Elvis Presley it constantly intense. “There was such togetherness that it really did equate to about 10 years it felt like.”

Thompson then recalls the deep heartbreaking conversation she had with Elvis about his “worst flaw.” When she asked what that was, Presley answers, “Well, I probably am only gonna say this one, but I think a little bit self-destructive.”

Thompson then notes that during this time she was developing a “pattern of wakefulness” to check on his breathing and make sure Elvis Presley was okay because she admits, sometimes he wasn’t. “It was exhausting,” Linda declares while discussing the lack of sleep. “And also just emotionally exhausting because this is a person that I loved more than my own life.”
