Elvis Presley and Linda Thompson’s Relationship

Elvis Presley and Linda Thompson dated between 1972-1976. They broke up because she wanted a normal life and remained friends until his death the following year.

They met shortly after Thompson became Miss Tennessee Universe and Presley divorced Priscilla back in 1972. was at the same theater that Elvis Presley rented out. He came in the back door where she was and his stepbrother introduced the two. They hit it off immediately and the icon wooed her with his Southern charm.

In an old interview posted to her Instagram account, then 22-year-old Thompson spoke candidly about their relationship. At the time, she didn’t have any problems being in the spotlight.

“Maybe because of my youth, or whatever, I’m a very adaptable person,” she said. Thompson added that dating him felt right and natural. Over the course of their time together, she just saw him as a person and not The King.

The only difference between her dating The King was how date nights took place. Instead of a typical date at the movie theater, he would rent out the entire theater. And instead of attending a fair, he rented out the entire fairgrounds. They were able to ride all of the rides with no lines.
