Elvis Presley Told Family He’d ‘Never See Them Again’ Days Before Death: Here’s the Story

Most people know the basic details behind the death of one of the most iconic performers to ever live. Elvis Presley had suffered from addiction for a huge portion of his life.

His drug use and painkiller addiction would become a factor in his death. The King passed away from a heart attack at his Graceland mansion in Memphis, Tennessee.

He announced as dead on August 16, 1977. Headlines and articles at the time were beyond confused at the very sudden and young death of Elvis Presley. In fact, he was supposed to fly out that day to continue the tour he was currently on.

His girlfriend at the time, Ginger Alden, found him lying face down in the bathroom at 2:30 p.m. instead. When medics arrived, he was dark blue, cold to the touch, and no pulse was detected.

What else is there to the death of Elvis Presley?

Elvis Presley’s Conversation with Step-Brother

A few days before Presley’s death he had a rather spooky and surreal conversation with his step-brother, David Stanley.

“The last time I saw Elvis alive was two days before he passed away. I walked into his room and he was reading his Bible. He said ‘David, let me ask you a question, who am I’? I laughed at him and said ‘well you’re the king’, and he said ‘no there’s only one king’ as he held up his Bible,” Stanley said on Australia’s “Today Show.”

When Stanley said he was heading out of town for a bit, but would see him on tour, Presley responded eerily.

“…And he said ‘I just want you to know that I love you David, I won’t ever see you again – the next time I see you will be in a higher place in a different plane,” Stanley said.

Elvis Presley had made a formal goodbye to his step-brother. At the time, Stanley felt it was something spiritual that The King was referring to. However, that wasn’t the case when he was found dead just a few days later.

Due to his sudden and unexpected death, many fans have created some pretty wild theories related to the death of Elvis Presley.

One is that he never actually died. According to TIME, over the last four decades, fans have said they spotted him out walking amongst us. The Elvis Sighting Society is specifically in place to monitor these incidents. One of the most “out-there” notions is he’s an extra in “Home Alone.”

Others have said that he faked his death to escape the mafia, which some believe he was connected to. Therefore, he’s just been in the witness protection program instead. Although some feel this is unlikely given how many people would have been keeping his secret and plotting this event with him.

His name is incorrect on his tombstone, some fans point out. His middle name is incorrect and this may be on purpose. Presley went between spelling it Aaron and Aron during his life, debunkers point out. One interview in 2005 with Oprah Winfrey was interpreted as suspicious as she said, “It’s exactly what he said the other day.”

Now, people interpret this as just a slip-up since she corrected herself and was referring to someone else. Most Americans believe he did actually die. Only 4% think otherwise, according to a Gallup poll.
