Riley Keough, the granddaughter of Rock ‘n’ Roll King Elvis Presley, is extremely successful all in her own right.
She has made a name for herself in the movie-making industry, specifically in many popular independent films. Keough has also had an incredibly successful modeling career alongside companies like Dolce & Gabbana, Christian Dior, and on the cover of Vogue.
Keough recently shared a picture from a photoshoot with the popular magazine, Dazed.
Her most recent project is the movie “Zola.” The recently released A24 movie is all based on a dramatic Twitter thread that starts with, “Y’all wanna hear a story about why me & this b**ch here fell out? It’s kind of long but full of suspense.”
The movie is directed by Janicza Bravo and stars Keough, Taylour Paige, Nicholaus Braun, Ari’el Stachel, and Colman Domingo. It tells the story of Zola, a part-time stripper, and the spontaneous friend she makes that convinces her to travel to Tampa, Florida. The Rolling Stones once covered the epic stripper-saga. The headline was, “Zola Tells All: The Real Story Behind the Greatest Stripper Saga Ever Tweeted.”
“It was one of the most joyful experiences I’ve had filming anything,” Keough said to Dazed.
Riley Keough Life and Film Experience
As it turns out, Riley Keough has had experience playing a sex worker on the screen in the past. She was in the first season of “The Girlfriend Experience” on Starz. She played a law student that becomes a high-end sex worker.
“It’s funny, I don’t know what about me is like screaming to everyone ‘sex worker,’ but it keeps happening. I’m very grateful that I have been given the opportunity to learn about this world because it’s something that otherwise I don’t think I would have ever explored to the degree that I have now at this point. That’s what’s great about film is you have two hours with somebody that you otherwise would never spend time with,” she shared with Vanity Fair.
Riley Keough has had many, many comparisons to her late iconic grandfather over the years. She’s explained constantly in interviews that he passed away 12 years before she was even born. This means she never came close to meeting her famous grandfather.
Despite her star-studded lineage, Keough has succeeded all on her own. “She grew up in mansions and castles, and was exposed to all types of crazy, amazing things, but she’s one of the most grounded people I’ve ever met – ever,” Taylour Paige, her “Zola” co-star said, in an interview with InStyle.
She’s even stated that her grandfather’s career isn’t something she’s had too much focus on. His music is just a reminder of grief.
“I don’t put it on. If it’s on, I’ll listen to it … There was definitely a lot of grief around it growing up, especially seeing my mom and my grandma,” Keough said in an interview with Variety. She also does some singing herself.
