At the end of August, Stallone and others announced the fourth installment of the action-packed movie series. In fact, a report from Variety also revealed that the popular film franchise is already “in the works.” Of course, many of your favorite action heroes are making their return to the sequel along with some new faces.
Stallone returns for the fourth movie along with another staple of the franchise in British action star Jason Statham. The pair will each return to the characters of Barney Ross and Lee Christmas respectively. In addition, Kellan Lutz will also reprise his role as Smilee from The Expendables 3.
The team of mercenaries will be back in action once again soon. Lionsgate Motion Picture Group president of acquisitions and co-productions Jason Constantine recently shared his excitement for the fourth Expendables film.
“It’s so much fun to bring these stars together for a no-holds-barred action film. The new film will raise the stakes and be the biggest, most badass adventure yet,” Constantine exclaimed.
When speaking about the new movie, Millennium president Jeffrey Greenstein added that “popcorn entertainment is guaranteed.”
Stallone and Statham each shared their own photos from the set of The Expendables 4 yesterday. The pair are both in costume on set while taking a break from filming. However, Lutz shared a pic from an actual scene, which shows himself, Stallone, and another actor seemingly plotting their next mission.
“Little older…little wiser… we’ll be ready for your call for @expendables,” Lutz wrote along with the behind the scenes pic.
‘Expendables 4’ Welcoming New Faces to the Franchise
Sylvester Stallone and his team of mercenaries are making their return to the big screen soon. There’s some new faces in the mix for The Expendables 4, but there’s still plenty of mainstays who are coming back as well.
As mentioned, Stallone, Statham, and Lutz are back for more action. We can add action hero Dolph Lundgren and former UFC star Randy Couture to the list of returning actors as well. Yet we’ve got some fresh faces for the new movie too, headlined by Megan Fox who will make her first appearance in the franchise.
Additionally, rapper 50 Cent will be added along with famous martial artist Tony Jaa. Director Scott Waugh is taking over duties on the set of the newest film that is already under production. Lionsgate and Millennium Media are producing the movie. Lionsgate’s Jason Constantine said his company is “thrilled” to be working with Millenium.
“We are thrilled to partner with our friends at Millennium Media for the next installment of the Expendables franchise,” Constantine also shared.
