Fetty Wap recently announced the tragic news that his four-year-old daughter, Lauren Maxwell, passed away. Lauren has had congenital cardiac anomalies since birth and ultimately passed from a cardiac arrhythmia. Cardiac arrythmias (like a heart murmur) are typically harmless. However, because the young daughter already had problems with the structure of her heart, the irregular heartbeat caused her untimely death.
According to TMZ, Fetty Wap’s daughter passed away on June 24, 2021, in their home in Riverdale, Georgia. During his performance at Rolling Loud in Miami last week, Fetty Wap dedicated his set to Lauren.
On Monday August 2nd, the artist went live on Instagram, reminiscing about his daughter. He held up a photo of her to the camera and gave it a kiss. He then asked fans to post “all butterflies” in remembrance of her, since she loved them so much.
“Y’all can do me a favor? Just post all butterflies,” Fetty Wap told his fans. “All butterflies. [She] loved butterflies. If you guys could do that, that means a lot.”
Of course, fans following the live video immediately filled the comments with blue butterflies. Fetty Wap also posted a photo of her on his feed. Lauren stood in a rainbow T-shirt with a wide grin and her hair in braids.
Alongside the photo, her loving father wrote, “Hey mini me (My Twin) …. ‘I love you to the moon and back forever and ever bestfriend.'” He added a couple of butterfly, bear and dove emojis to his caption.
Fetty Wap’s Ex-Wife Posts in Memory of Daughter
Fetty Wap’s ex-wife and Lauren’s mother also posted a touching tribute to their daughter. Like Lauren’s father, Lisa Pembroke posted one of her favorite moments of her daughter. In the video, the same happy Lauren splashed around in a pool. She had on a pink swimsuit and matching pink beads in her hair. She seemed to be the perfect mix of her parents’ features.
In the caption, the mother wrote, “This is my amazing ,beautiful , funny , vibrant, loving ,talented , smart and hardheaded princess mermaid Aquarius. If you see this post scrolling by with her comment or just say to yourself ‘ i love you LAUREN ‘because they say that souls can feel your love #rip.”
Fetty Wap’s ex-wife also came to his defense following the announcement of their daughter’s death. She implored fans on her own Instagram story to be kinder to the rapper.
“You don’t have to kick a man while he’s down,” Pembroke wrote. “Losing a child is as down as it gets.”
She also acknowledged that while in the past the two have had their issues but have since come to a “better place” for Lauren. Pembroke even applauded Fetty Wap for becoming more “financially and emotionally responsible” for the sake of his daughter.
