Chip and Joanna Gaines from the popular HGTV show Fixer Upper are looking to move from their roots in Waco, Texas, to the celebrity paradise that is Montecito, California.

Of course, fans know the high-profile couple from their time starring on the hit reality series, Fixer Upper. The show’s first pilot episode aired on HGTV back in May of 2013. After that, the show ran for five seasons and ended in 2018. And on a network that was full of design and renovation shows, Fixer Upper quickly became a fan favorite. Since then, Chip and Joanna have actually launched their own streaming platform, Magnolia Network.

Nowadays, however, it sounds like Chip and Joanna Gaines are looking to move to the hills of California. A source told Closer Weekly that the celebrity couple wants to invest in a home in Montecito. For reference, the average price of a home in the area is around the four-million dollar mark.

“They’ve fallen in love with Montecito and have looked around a couple of houses that are up for sale in the area,” the source said.

The news doesn’t come as that big of a surprise, though. After all, Chip and Joanna were just spotted earlier this month vacationing in the area.

“Ideally, they want [it to be] within close proximity to the beach and over two acres in size,” the source added.

Are the ‘Fixer Upper’ Stars Moving to Montecito?

Although nothing has been confirmed just yet, reports suggest that Chip and Joanna Gaines are getting closer to making a splash out in California. The two are widely known for their ability to renovate and flip homes. Shoot, they have an entire TV show dedicated to doing just that in Fixer Upper.

So, you can imagine that if they do purchase a home out in Montecito, they will be looking for one they can “invest in” and flip it for a figure in the millions. The source who spoke with Closer Weekly confirmed as much.

“They’ll use their [do it yourself] skills to flip it and deck it out in [their brand] Magnolia.”

From a business point of view, perhaps this is the right move for the couple. They already have roots and an established base in Waco, Texas. And if they are able to start flipping houses in the Montecito area, their brand could become bigger than they ever imagined.

“They feel that having a base in Montecito will allow them the freedom and flexibility to boost their brand in Los Angeles and the rest of California,” the source told the outlet.

Montecito lies about 80 miles west of Los Angeles. It is just between the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Ynez mountains in Santa Barbara County. And it is a well-known paradise for some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Stars like Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres, and more recently, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, call Montecito home.

It’s starting to sound like Chip and Joanna Gaines will be the next stars to add their names to that list.
