‘Fixer Upper’ Stars Chip and Joanna Gaines Raise Funds for Waco School after July Fire Burns Down Buildings

Lovable TV hosts Chip and Joanna Gaines are rallying around a recent hometown tragedy and doing what they do best – flipping the bad into good. The “Fixer Upper” stars are taking part in raising funds for a local school after it caught on fire in late July.

G.W. Carver Middle School in Waco, Tx caught fire during the early morning hours of July 26, according to People Magazine.

Much of the school went up in flames, burning down more than just a building. The structure was a staple of Waco history.

“G.W. Carver Middle School is more than a building,” Principal Isaac Carrier said, according to the article. “It’s the people, and it’s the legacy that they carry with them each day. We will heal and thrive together. This coming school year will be different than we expected, but it can and will still be a great year.”

While the school opened in 1959 as a high school for black students, it has since been restructured as a middle school in the Waco district.

Students who were set to attend the middle school will have to divide and attend other schools while officials work to rebuild what was once a piece of Waco history.

That’s where Chip and Joanna Gaines come in. Always the philanthropists, the couple decided to raise funds for the school in their hometown by offering 100 percent of proceeds from their restaurant, Magnolia Table, between Aug. 11 and 13. The Gaines’ have agreed to donate proceeds from their restaurant up to $15,000. Additionally, Joanna Gaines posted other ways people can donate to the school via her social media pages.

“Waco has already come together to help, so we want to join their efforts and get this school community back on its feet,” she said in the post. “Visit us at Magnolia Table, mention G.W. Carver Middle at checkout, and 100% of your total will go to the G.W. Carver Disaster Relief Fund up to $15,000 total.”

‘Fixer Upper’ Stars Continue to Build Dynasty

With all their success, Chip and Joanna Gaines spend a fair amount of time giving back in the community. The stars have spoken candidly about their success as they continue to build a strong business network.

Most recently, the “Fixer Upper” stars launched their own network, Magnolia Network. The power couple, which are worth more than a billion dollars, will continue showcasing their country-chic style on their own app as well as Discovery+.

Between the reboot of the “Fixer Upper” series, a home-decor line at Target, book deals, and the new network, the former HGTV stars have set themselves up for great success.

Both Chip and Joanna live in Waco, along with their five children. The two have maintained a successful business while being open about their love and relationship with their followers.
