It’s happening, “Fixer Upper” star Chip Gaines is cutting off his luscious locks and going for a personal makeover.
The master home renovator is doing so for a good cause too.
‘Fixer Upper’ Star Donating To St. Judes
“Starting today, Chip is teaming up with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for a fundraising event to benefit their lifesaving mission of finding cures and saving children,” the “Today” show reported.
From now until August 27, all of his supporters, both on and off social media, have the opportunity to help the “Fixer Upper” star make a change. He’s asking for donations as a part of his “Operation Haircut Part 2.”
Chip Gaines did something similar in the past. At that time in 2017, he raised $230,000 on social media for cancer research. Then two years later, his “Chip in Challenge” raised almost a million for the same cause using social media. Chip is using that influencer status for good.
Now, for every fundraising milestone he hits, Chip has agreed to chop off or shave additional inches of his luxurious hair. “All donations will benefit the lifesaving mission of St. Jude: Finding cures. Saving children. Because of generous supporters like Chip and Joanna Gaines, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food –because all a family should worry about is helping their child live,” a press release from St. Jude stated.
Chip Gaines Is Spreading The Word On Social Media
Chip Gaines is already spreading the word on his Instagram account where he has five million followers. He posted a hilarious video of him shaking and flipping his hair accompanied by all the hair hate he’s gotten on social media from strangers.
“WOW.. turns out some of y’all really don’t like my hair! But I can take it because I’ve been growing it out for a good reason. So now’s your chance to put your money where your mouth is.. I’m going to cut my hair, and I’m asking you to cut a check—and let’s see if we can raise a boatload of money for the kids at @stjude. The hair’s coming off on Friday, but between now and then, let’s chip in together for a good cause. And when it’s all said and done, I’ll donate my hair to @cwhl_org. Let’s do this!”
The hair of the Magnolia Network star has caused quite the controversy. While talking about the launch of their new network, both Chip and Joanna Gaines talked about the hot topic of the day.
“Nobody can agree on anything. You’re either in this camp or you’re in this camp. Well, Twitter is very similar in that regard with my hair. It’s either you love this or you (hate it),” Chip said. Meanwhile, Joanna admitted, “It’s grown on me.”
Whether you loved it or hated it, the hair is going bye-bye. In its place will be thousands of dollars donated to a good cause. You can keep up with the “Fixer Upper” star’s hair loss journey over on his Instagram page.
